Valley Stream Book Club will meet.  Title to be discussed is The Promise of Stardust, by Priscille Sibley.

Matt was two years old the first time he held Elle in his arms, seventeen when he first kissed her, and thirty-three when they wed. Now the deeply devoted couple has everything—except the baby they've always wanted.

When a tragic accident leaves Elle brain-dead, Matt is devastated. Though he cannot bear losing her, he knows his wife feared only one thing—a slow death. Just before Matt agrees to remove Elle from life support, the doctors discover that she is pregnant. Now what was once a clear-cut decision becomes an impossible choice. While there is no certainty her body can sustain the pregnancy, Matt is sure Elle would want the baby to have a chance. Linney, Matt's mother, believes her son is blind with denial and insists Elle would never want to be kept alive by artificial means, no matter what. And the result is a battle, which ultimately goes beyond one family and one single life.

This program features famous songs of America written by people who were all motivated to capture a moment in history or the spirit of the people of America.  Lyle Cogen is an award-winning singer-songwriter, recording artist, and theatre performer. She has performed her songs and theatre productions throughout the U.S. for children, parents and teachers at theaters and schools, bringing her energy, high spirits and uplifting message to young audiences everywhere.

This is the final program in “Celebrating America's Cultural Heritage,” a multi-disciplinary series of programs to celebrate America’s cultural heritage. “Celebrating America's Cultural Heritage" is being made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts’ Decentralization Program administered by The Huntington Arts Council, Inc. and generous donations from several library patrons.
