misc_none 9:30 AM  -  12:30 PM Etsy Entrepreneurs Craft Fair Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

Stop by the Community Room to purchase handmade items from the artists in-person.

Etsy, a leader in e-commerce for creative entrepreneurs, is an online buyer and seller community similar to eBay except it focuses on hand-crafted or vintage goods. Most products fall into the category of arts, crafts, jewelry, paper-goods, housewares, skin care products, candles, and artisan candies or baked goods.

In the fall of 2016 and the spring of 2017, Wallingford Public Library partnered with Etsy to offer free classes to help craft makers establish an online business selling their products to a wider market.

Our Craft Entrepreneurship classes were taught by Libby Hitchcock, a successful online craft seller who coached and supported participants through every aspect of setting up their online shops. Libby shared best practices on topics that impact new sellers most, including time management, branding, pricing, shipping, and photography. In these 5 week courses, a total of 32 participants gained the skills to open an Etsy shop and sustain and grow a business.

While the artists’ items are always available online via their new etsy shops, a group of participants from this class is pleased to bring you an in-person shopping experience this summer. Please join us on August 26th from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Wallingford Library Community room to meet the artists, sample their goods, and purchase unique hand-crafted items.

A small selection of participants’ products will be on display in the library’s front cases in July and August.
