misc_none 12:00 PM  -  2:00 PM Summer Bike Tune-Up Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

In preparation for being outdoors this summer, dust off your bicycles (kids and adults)!  Hopefully you’ll be on your way with just a little air in your tires, but Wallingford resident and bike commuter, Jared Liu, will be on-hand to demonstrate some simple repairs and empower you to work on your own bike throughout the season.  The class will focus on whatever is needed to get your bike going, and will likely include simple repairs for: wheels (tubes, tires, mounting, and spokes), drivetrain (chains, pedals, and gears), fit (seat and handlebar positioning), and cables (brakes and shifting).

Register for a 30 minute appointment (recommended) or drop-in anytime on a first-come, first-serve basis during this two-hour session.  There will be a follow-up session one week later for any parts that need to be ordered.  Labor is free, but parts will be at cost.

misc_none 7:00 PM  -  8:00 PM Introduction to Amateur Radio Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

In this one hour segment, you will learn what Amateur Radio is all about. Amateur Radio merges communications, electronics, science, and cultures into a rewarding hobby and service to the community. Amateur Radio is a form of radio communication ranging from two-meter walkie-talkie communication to satellite / space station communication. The communication mode can take the form of digital transmission using a computer/radio combination or as simple as voice communication.

A short video segment explaining the facets of radio communication and how it serves educational aspects of our lives, provides international good will, and provides safety and security will be shown.  Anyone can operate Amateur Radio equipment and only requires one to pass a simple multiple choice test.  Learn more about this growing hobby and service by attending this presentation.
