Stop by the Second Chapter Cafe and join other adults to watch a different film each week!  No registration required.

This week's selection is the latest film by directing legend Ivan Reitman, Draft Day.  On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (played by Kevin Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he's willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL. Once again, the combination of America's Everyman, Kevin Costner, and a sports-themed film makes for a "winning team"!

Stop by the Second Chapter Cafe and join other adults to watch a different film each week!  No registration required.

This week's film is the comedy caper, The Love Punch.  Spanning locations in Paris, London and the French Riviera, this story brings together Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson for the first time, as ex-husband and wife Richard and Kate whose biting banter suggests that the flames of their former relationship have not been fully extinguished.  Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for their retirement nest egg which is wiped out when Richard's investment firm is defrauded and the pension fund is siphoned away. Learning that the unscrupulous French financier behind the scheme has just purchased a $10,000,000 diamond for his bride to be, the divorced duo grudgingly agree to set aside their differences, and hatch a plot to gate-crash the wedding and steal the rock!

Stop by the Second Chapter Cafe and join other adults to watch a different film each week!  No registration required.

This week's film is an ode to old age and the wisdom (and laughter!) that comes with it, I'm Not Rappaport.  Starring Walter Matthau and Ossie Davis, the film follows two elderly men who sit on the same Central Park bench each afternoon and have developed a relationship based on playful verbal sparring. Nat is an eccentric Jewish leftist who uses a dizzying variety of voices and assumed personalities to get his way, while Midge is the African-American superintendent of an apartment building who is afraid that he's going to be put out to pasture.  Is New York City big enough for the both of them?  Find out in this charmingly funny comedy based on the award-winning play by Herb  Gardner.

Have you ever written a song?  Crafted a memory book?   Ever acted out a Shakespeare play?  Made a fancy dessert?

Well, me neither!

We all have certain things we would like to do or try, but we don’t because we’re busy, scared, or unsure how to begin.  Since these “little things” can build up, our new club is designed to take the time to try them as a group.  We’ll make our own list and try a different one each month!

So why get cross when you can cross off?

    Contact: Brandon   412-882-6622   taperb2@einetwork.net

As long as we’ve had the ability to make motion pictures, we’ve had audiences to scare and frighten.  Some of the earliest and most enduring movies are horror films –starring Frankenstein, Dracula, demons and devils. Beyond their ability to raise the hairs on our necks, these “scary stories” also inform us about our world and ourselves.

Come join us for this hair-raising program with nationally-recognized (and home-grown!) authority on culture and cinema, Professor Adam Lowenstein.  He will explain “why horror films matter”, provide a history of some of the most important examples, and shed some light on this right to fright!

I’d be scared if I didn’t attend!

About the speaker: Adam Lowenstein is Associate Professor of English and Film Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also directs the Film Studies Program. He is the author of Shocking Representation: Historical Trauma, National Cinema, and the Modern Horror Film (Columbia University Press, 2005) as well as essays that have appeared in Cinema Journal, Representations, Film Quarterly, Critical Quarterly, boundary 2, Post Script, and numerous anthologies. He has been interviewed on issues of cinema and culture in the New York Times, the Village Voice, and in the documentary The American Nightmare. His new book, Dreaming of Cinema: Spectatorship, Surrealism, and the Age of Digital Media, is forthcoming from Columbia University Press in January 2015.

Many critics say that we are now in a second Golden Age of television.  With so many choices, it’s easy to be left behind at the water cooler.  Join us then for a special series dedicated to . . . a special series!

Our first selection is that PBS period favorite, Downton Abbey.  Each day, we'll watch two episodes of the program followed by an optional discussion of the show.  We’ll work through the show's entirety until it’s time to watch the new season.

Go on and have an episode at your library!

**We'll provide a special "tea and biscuit" service to kick off the progran!**

Many critics say that we are now in a second Golden Age of television.  With so many choices, it’s easy to be left behind at the water cooler.  Join us then for a special series dedicated to . . . a special series!

Our first selection is that PBS period favorite, Downton Abbey.  Each day, we'll watch two episodes of the program followed by an optional discussion of the show.  We’ll work through the show's entirety until it’s time to watch the new season.

Go on and have an episode at your library!

**We'll provide a special "tea and biscuit" service to kick off the progran!**
