    On June 27th at 6:30pm in the Whitman Public Library's Community Room, Kathleen McCann is reading from her second full-length collection, Barn Sour, just out from Cherry Grove Publications. A finalist for the May Swenson Poetry Award, 2011, Barn Sour is made up of lyric poems recalling love of family, friends, and places along Boston’s south shore.
 
Kate McCann lives in Weymouth, MA and teaches poetry, composition, and American literature at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy. Her poems have appeared in many small presses, such as The Threepenny Review; Eclipse; The Midwest Quarterly; Witness; South Dakota Review;  Natural Bridge; Poetry East. New poems are forthcoming in Rhino; Blackbird; and CRANNOG, Galway, Ireland.
 
Prior work includes The Sea’s Rosary (chapbook, 2008); The Small Hours, (chapbook, 2008); A Roof Gone To Sky, (full-length collection of poems, 2009). A Pushcart nominee, Kate has a poem on Ted Kooser’s American Life in Poetry, made possible by The Poetry Foundation and providing newspapers with a free weekly column featuring contemporary American poems.
