Welcome to BookBuggs, a new kind of book club! Come prepared to share with the group information (title, author, and a brief personal review) on novels or nonfiction that you have recently read and enjoyed, or even longstanding favorites. Everyone will have at least five minutes to speak, but no one is required to share if they prefer just to listen and enjoy. Bring a notebook to record the details of anything that sounds interesting for future reading. BookBuffs will meet on the first Tuesday of each month. We will be showing The Lorax and designing our very own cars out of recycled cardboard boxes, markers, plates, and more! Our drive-in movie event will be held in the library’s community room. Don’t forget to bring extra snacks if you'd like.

Rated: PG 

For grades K to 2.  Limited seating.

The Windsor Locks Public Library's  free annual "Star Party" will be held on the library lawn on Saturday, August 8 from 7:00 PM until midnight. JPL/ NASA Solar System Ambassador Bill Fournier will guide participants in planet and moon viewing and also provide information on the annual Perseid meteor shower.
  
Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and don't forget the bug repellent! Telescopes and binoculars are welcome and demonstration telescopes will be available.  Please call the Windsor Locks Public Library at 860-627-1495 to register or register here.  The library is located at 28 Main Street.

Roberta Isleib is not only a wonderful mystery writer, but a clinical psychologist as well.  Writings as herself, Roberta is author of the Cassie Burdette golf mystery series (written in part to justfy her own love of golf) and the Advice Column mysteries featuring Dr. Rebecca Butterman.  She is also currently working on the Key West Food Critic mysteries under the name of Lucy Burdette.  The latest Key West mystery, FATAL RESERVATIONS, is due out on July 7, so what better time could there be to meet this award-winning New Jersey-born author?  Come ands join our Christie Capers group in welcoming Roberta Isleib to the Windsor Locks Public Library! Have you ever considered writing about a significant event in your life to hand down to your children or having your story published?  In 2013 Jacqueline Masumian published a memoir, Nobody Home, about her childhood with a difficult mother and her eventually confrontation with a dark family secret. Ms. Masumian will read a short chapter from her book and discuss the fascinating process of writing memoir for publication or for preservation of family histories.  Copies of her book will be available for sale and signing at the program.  Aspiring memoirists won't want to miss this program!  Please call 860-627-1495 to register.
