This program will begin with the screening of The Abortion Diaries. The Abortion Diaries is a documentary featuring 12 women who speak candidly about their experiences with abortion. The women are doctors, subway workers, artists, activists, military personnel, teachers and students; they are Black, Latina, Jewish and White; they are mothers or child-free; they range in age from 19 to 54. Their stories weave together with the filmmaker's diary entries to present a compelling, moving and at times surprisingly funny "dinner party" where the audience is invited to hear what women say behind closed doors about motherhood, medical technology, sex, spirituality, love, work and their own bodies.
Following the film there will be a conversation hosted by a panel of informed speakers representing clergy, health care workers, politicians, and other local organizations concerned with women’s health.
This program is sponsored by Greater Worcester Chapter Hadassah and the Jewish Federation of Central Mass.

The Great Books Discussion Group will begin its thirty-fourth year on September 3, 2008. The group meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. Its purpose is to understand and appreciate great writing through the sharing of ideas.
The only requirement for attending a Great Books meeting is that you read the selection to be discussed. There is no charge and no pre-registration. You need not attend all the meetings, but you will find the discussions more interesting if you come to as many meetings as possible.
We discuss only the assigned readings (or those read previously) so that all participants will be familiar with the material. We do not refer to or quote sources other than the text itself but seek to understand the writings through our own efforts.

This Assessment Tools training will focus on soft skills/job readiness assessment tools used in workforce programs for screening and evaluating participants. These skills are often difficult to assess. There will be discussion and activities on using tools that help to assess a participant's readiness to become employed and how to assess their "soft skills" (teamwork, problem-solving, conflict resolution). The training will not focus on hard skills or literacy assessments.
