Rumpelstilskin
follows the well known fairy tale about a girl whose father, the Miller, loved her so much that he made up stories about her unusual talents. Truthfulness wasn’t something the Miller cared much about, but after he bragged to the king whose treasury coffers where empty, he put his only child into big trouble. His daughter Kathleen had to spin straw into gold or lose her life! Fortunately, an odd looking stranger jumped straight into the story and offered the help. Accepting help from strangers is always risky business, and that is how it was this time. After the king married Kathleen and made her into the queen, she gave her royal husband a child -- but she was faced with losing it all if she could not pass one more test: finding well hidden word – the name of mysterious stranger.
This 40- 45 minutes long show features five beautifully crafted table-top puppets brought to life by two masterful puppeteers: Jacek Zuzanski and Norina Reif or Margaret Moody.

Our shows are ideal for preschool and school assemblies, library reading programs, museum events, summer schools, children’s hospitals, parties, and similar events. We address children aged 3-8, but older children and parents enjoy them as well. Usually we stay with our audience for 10-15 minutes after the show to answer questions, and allow children to meet the puppets.

ent_masks_bw 6:00 PM Lizzie Borden and the 40 Whacks     Tell a Friend
    Contact: Main Desk

On a scorching hot day in Fall River, back in August of 1892, a heinous crime occurred.
Spinster Lizzie Borden was accused, tried, and acquitted for the vicious axe murders of
her father and stepmother. This true unsolved mystery has fascinated people for over 100 years.

Two people died on that day in 1892, but Lizzie continues to live on in American
folklore.

The performance includes a mock trial that invites the audience to participate by questioning Lizzie, and voting on her guilt or innocence.

This “edutainment” production features Lynne Moulton and Joseph Zamparelli in multiple roles depicting Lizzie’s story and educating the audience members so that they may be informed “jurists”.

Did she or didn’t she?  Let the audience be the judge.  The cast opens up to the audience for discussion after the performance.

This program is supported in part by the East Bridgewater Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
