This month's movie is the 2009 Summer Wars.

The film tells the story of Kenji Koiso, a timid eleventh-grade math genius who is taken to Ueda by twelfth-grade student Natsuki Shinohara to celebrate her great-grandmother's 90th birthday. However, he is falsely implicated in the hacking of a virtual world by a sadistic artificial intelligence named Love Machine. Kenji must repair the damage done to it and find a way to stop the rogue computer program from causing any further damage.

Rated PG. Running time is 1 hour and 54 minutes.

Please bring your cookies on one tray or platter with a copy of your cookie recipe. It is not necessary to package your cookies into portions ahead of time. Do you enjoy browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes? Do you enjoy tasting new dishes? Then grab your apron and join Southington Library's cookbook club, Cooking the Books!  Check out a Southington Library cookbook on January's topic, Brinner: Breakfast for Dinner, and then spend some time experimenting with it. Come to the program on the date posted, ready to share a dish and discuss your experience. If your experiments yield disastrous results, that's okay! Bring it along, anyway!

Participants are encouraged to go green – please bring your own plate, utensils, and serving spoon. Dishes should arrive ready to eat as there is no kitchen facility on hand. Please also bring 16 copies of your recipe to share. Everyone who attends will receive a binder to store their cookbook club recipes.

Tired of your cookbooks? Looking for some new recipes? Join us for a cookbook exchange at the Southington Public Library from 2 to 4 on Saturday, April 21! Bring some old cookbooks and take some new (to you) cookbooks – could it get any easier?!

You may drop off cookbooks at the Information Desk between April 9 and 18, or bring your cookbooks on Saturday, to exchange for different ones. For each cookbook you bring, you’ll be given a ticket with which to select a different cookbook during the swap.

Gently used cookbooks only, please! No more than five cookbooks per person. No magazines or pamphlets. Any leftover cookbooks will be passed along to The Friends of Southington Library.

Light refreshments will be provided. Door prizes offered.

Do you enjoy browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes? Do you enjoy tasting new dishes? Then grab your apron and join Southington Library's new cookbook club, Cooking the Books! Check out a Southington Library cookbook on September's topic, Let's Get Spicy!, and then spend some time experimenting  with it.

'Tis the cookie season! Join us for our second annual holiday cookie exchange on Thursday, December 13. Select, from a Southington library cookbook, a cookie recipe you would like to try, bake it, and then bring the cookies to the library to share with others.  If you prefer to prepare one of your own family favorites instead, that is perfectly fine, as well. No homemade cookie will be turned away!

Please bring your cookies on one tray or platter with a copy of your cookie recipe. It is not necessary to package your cookies into portions ahead of time. A container will be provided to hold your new cookie collection. We will attempt to divide the cookies as evenly as possible, but the math may not be in our favor.
