The coloring sessions at the Library are FREE, unstructured times for adults, 18 and over. The Library provides coloring pages, pencils and markers. Feel free to bring your own pencils and markers and coloring sheets.

This storytime is meant for 3 1/2 , 4 & 5 year olds. In class, we will hone our listening and socialization skills with stories, music and movement. Children must be ready to attend these programs independently, but caregivers must stay in the library while class is occurring.

Original paintings by Maria and Scott Colarcai.

Maria Colacrai started working with pastels at Artsplace in Cheshire under the instruction of Mally DeSomma, fine artist. Maria has also studied acrylics with Judy Jaworski at the Prospect Senior Center.

Maria uses photos from her various trips in the United States and other countries. She likes to paint landscapes, seascapes and sunset scenes. Maria has shown her artwork in several art shows in the Cheshire area.

 

Scott Colacrai began painting in 2006 at the Artsplace in Cheshire. He works under the tutelage of Mally DeSomma, fine artist.

Scott creates his works in pastels. His paintings feature wildlife with a focus on native birds, domestic and wild animals. Scott has received several awards in Cheshire area art shows and enjoys sharing his works with the community.

RELAXATION, REJUVENATION and READING!!!

Tuesdays in June from 6:00. to 8:00 p.m. in the Southington Library Cafe Area

Branford Hall Institute and the Southington Library invite you for a night of “Relaxation, Rejuvenation and Reading” with a Free chair massage provided by Advanced Massage Therapy Students of Branford Hall.

Dates of the free chair massages will be June 7, 14, 21 and 28. The massages will be available in the Cafe Area with one exception, June 21st will be in the lower level program room.  The session are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis. No specific times will be scheduled.  There is no age restriction.  Infant/child massage will also be offered (Parents must be present during the time of massage for anyone under the age of 18).

Sessions are approximately 10 to 15 minutes in length, depending on the the number of people waiting. The client remains fully clothed at all times.  Modifications can be made to those who are uncomfortable or are unable to properly sit in a massage chair.

The Path to the Presidency is a four-part, scholar-led book discussion series designed to stimulate lively discussion about America's political system as seen through our presidential elections.  The following books will be discussed:

Todays discussion was moved from May 23rd.  June 13:"Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin and the Race of a Lifetime," by John Heileman and Mark Halperin. A riveting backstage look at the 2008 presidential election. The Financial Times called it "one of the best books on politics of any kind." Registration will begin on May 23rd.

Dr. Paul Petterson, Chair of the Political Science Dept. at CCSU  will lead the discussion.

RELAXATION, REJUVENATION and READING!!!

Tuesdays in June from 6:00. to 8:00 p.m. on the Southington Library Mezzanine

Branford Hall Institute and the Southington Library invite you for a night of “Relaxation, Rejuvenation and Reading” with a Free chair massage provided by Advanced Massage Therapy Students of Branford Hall.

Dates of the free chair massages will be June 7, 14, 21 and 28.  The session are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis. No specific times will be scheduled.  There is no age restriction.  Infant/child massage will also be offered (Parents must be present during the time of massage for anyone under the age of 18).

Sessions are approximately 10 to 15 minutes in length, depending on the the number of people waiting. The sessions will be held on the mezzanine (one exception June 21st will be in the lower level program room).  The client remains fully clothed at all times.  Modifications can be made to those who are uncomfortable or are unable to properly sit in a massage chair.

The Southington Library presents The Mighty Soul Drivers winners of the 2015 Connecticut Blues Challenge will be performing in the Cafe.

The Mighty Soul Drivers bring the classic Soul sounds of Memphis, Muscle Shoals and points South to the hills of New England. The Mighty Soul Drivers take their inspiration from the giants of Southern Soul - O.V. Wright, Percy Sledge, Otis Redding and more and combine that with contemporary tunes written in the classic style. The Mighty Soul Drivers turn every venue they play into a Soul dance party!

Seating is limited, there is no registration first come first served. There will be standing room available.

The Southington Library will host Cheshire/Southington Probate Judge Matthew Jalowiec monthly at open public forums in the library meeting room. The public is invited to the free “Ask the Judge” forums beginning Friday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. and continuing on the last Friday of the month through September 30th. 

Registration is suggested.  Judge Jalowiec will be available for approximately an hour in which the general public can ask all sorts of Probate questions.  The Judge cannot give specific legal advice; all his responses will be procedural in nature and contain a general overview of the law.

he Southington Library will host Cheshire/Southington Probate Judge Matthew Jalowiec monthly at open public forums in the library meeting room. The public is invited to the free “Ask the Judge” forums beginning Friday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. and continuing on the last Friday of the month through September 30th. 

Registration is suggested.  Judge Jalowiec will be available for approximately an hour in which the general public can ask all sorts of Probate questions.  The Judge cannot give specific legal advice; all his responses will be procedural in nature and contain a general overview of the law.

The Southington Library will host Cheshire/Southington Probate Judge Matthew Jalowiec monthly at open public forums in the library meeting room. The public is invited to the free “Ask the Judge” forums beginning Friday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. and continuing on the last Friday of the month through September 30th. 

Registration is suggested.  Judge Jalowiec will be available for approximately an hour in which the general public can ask all sorts of Probate questions.  The Judge cannot give specific legal advice; all his responses will be procedural in nature and contain a general overview of the law.
