misc_none 9:00 AM  -  9:00 PM Artist of the Month Jennie Dubicki Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
To me painting was always a leisure time activity, something to do in your spare time and only if you were talented. As a working mom I had neither. When I retired from teaching business courses, computers were relatively new in the school systems. Students (and teachers) were excited about the new technology and they eagerly took such courses as keyboarding, word and general data processing. So I became a student at Tunxis. An instructor suggested I enroll in some drawing classes and so began a new love. Now I work on my own and also attend classes at the Calendar House. Southington Arts and Crafts Association has also been influential in my "new career"." - Jennie Dubicki

misc_none 6:30 PM  -  8:30 PM The After Life You are Not Alone Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
Recent heightened media focus on the paranormal, (spirits, ghosts, ghost hunting and the afterlife) is both a gratifying validation and a source of frustration for Sydney Sherman. For Ms. Sherman, communication involves respect for our own truths and those of our peeps. Hers is a mission to promote greater understanding and to demystify the field. The frauds, manipulators and those who prey on our honest curiosity are doubly harmful, victimizing individuals and discrediting the field. Sydney’s goal and that of her book is to give clarity -- a better understanding of the afterlife, of the spirits around you and what is in store for all for us. Each of us deserves the opportunity to enjoy and to be enjoyed by our loved ones??even after they pass from this life. As Sherman says, “See you on the other side…” Books will be available to purchase at the completion of the presentation. Registration Required, there is limited seating. Click on the Register button below or call the Reference Department at 860-628-0947 x 5. Registration will begin August 1st.

I became interested in photography when my parents gave me my first Kodak camera as a little kid. At that time, it used film in the shape of a mini CD and I thought it took the best photos in the world. I was amazed at how you could capture moments in time on a little negative.Over the past few years, I’ve started entering some of my photos into the various local fairs (i.e. Goshen, Durham, etc.). I’ve been privileged enough to win a variety of ribbons at each of the fairs, most notably 1st place at the Big E. I hope you have as much enjoyment perusing through the photos on my website as I had taking them. http://hiddenhillstudio.smugmug.com/
