Southington Library invites Southington notables to join in our celebration. The public is invited to the event.     If you are a fan of NPR you have probably heard popular author Lee Jacobus on The Faith Middleton Book Show. Now you are invited to come to the Library to meet Lee in person and hear all about his latest book, Hawaiian Tales: The Girl with Heavenly Eyes. The book is a collection of 14 short stories that look beyond the surface lives of tourists and retirees, natives and transplants, to the joys and mysteries within. In addition to sharing his experiences Lee will give a mini-workshop on how to write travel fiction, turning your experiences into a journal or novel.

The Orchard Valley Garden Club of Southington will be sponsoring their 3rd annual Enchanted  Fairy House Exhibit hosted on the  grounds of the Barnes Museum in conjunction with the Southington Apple Harvest Festival.  Children and Adults of all ages will be amazed & delighted with these beautifully handcrafted wee little houses.  Children will be greeted with their very own Fairy Braclets forwarning the Fairies of their entering the grounds.  They will also have the opportunity to create  Wizzard Hats & Fairy Wands and construct their own Fairy House in the Museum Barn.  Face painting will be available from 12:00 to 3:00 pm and the museum will be open for tours from 1:00 to 5:00 pm

This is the first weekend of the Southington Apple Harvest Weekend and to join in the festivites the Barnes Museum will have a Open House for those who have never toured Southington's Historic Treasure.  Tours will be free of charge but freewill donations will gratefully be accepted.  Enjoy your Day at the Festival.
