Based on a bestselling novel by Edna Ferber, Show Boat tells the 40-year story of the lives of performers, stagehands, and dock workers who are on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River show boat. Highlights include “Ol’ Man River,” “Make Believe,” and “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man.”  With an all-star cast led by Vanessa Williams, Downton Abbey’s Julian Ovendon, Tony Award nominees Lauren Worsham and Norm Lewis, and Fred Willard, this New York Philharmonic production highlights the lush musical journey at the center of this epic show.

Broadway’s most revived and revised work, Show Boat was the first musical ever performed by an opera company — by New York City Opera in 1954. Recent productions have garnered the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical (1995) and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival (1991).

This free concert film will be presented in the Program Room and will run from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  Registration begins Wednesday February 8th. Registration is required please visit our calendar at southingtonlibrary.org or call 860.628.0947 x 5.

Registration is suggested.  Judge Jalowiec will be available for approximately an hour in which the general public can ask all sorts of Probate questions.  The Judge cannot give specific legal advice; all his responses will be procedural in nature and contain a general overview of the law.
