  • The 1st floor display cases feature the prizes being given in the Adult Summer Reading Program. Remember to fill out an entry for the drawings each time you take books out!
  • 1st Floor Lobby -- Check out the magazines on display for summer living and get ideas on shed & deck building, gardening, organizing your garage, and many other outdoor projects to make your summer a fun one.
  • 1st Floor Lobby & Marble Lobby -- On the 1st floor there is a display of Travel and Tour Books for New England Destinations.  That theme is continued to the 2nd floor with more of those books and the large glass display cases highlighting the discount passes to local museums and attractions that the APL has.
  • Also in the 1st Floor Lobby -- The Spanish collection at the Attleboro Library is growing! Visit the kid's collection in the Children's Room, and the third floor for teen and adult books.La colección española en la Biblioteca Attleboro está creciendo! Visita la colección del niño en la Sala Infantil, y el tercer piso para adolescentes y adultos libros.
  • 2nd Floor -- The Fiction Area has a display of Adult Summer Reading and bookmarks suggesting Read-Alikes for favorite books and authors as well as a list of Favorite books and Authors from the Staff of the APL.
  • Magazine Room -- With our thanks to the Friends of the Attleboro Library: Come and relax for a few minutes (or longer!) at our puzzle table in the 2nd floor reading room.
  • 3rd Floor --  “It’s Time for Summer Cooking!”  Come check out our mouth-watering recipes for grilling meat, fish, and veggies, plus get ideas for tasty side dishes and delicious desserts!
  • Special Display -- 2nd floor -- For a limited time only, the Attleboro Public Library will be exhibiting this intimate look at the role Portuguese speakers played in shaping the community of Southeastern Massachusetts.
    This partnership with the New Bedford Whaling Museum is a result of the Community Languages grant, funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Grades 3 & 4 -- Great books, fun discussion and snacks!  We will meet once a month for a book discussion at the library.   Each month is a different book and you can pick up a copy of the books in the Attleboro Public Library Children’s Room. 

This month, the book club will be asked to read any of the books in the "My Weird School" series by Dan Gutman.  There are a lot of different books--each family will choose a title and then we will share. Please call or email to register.

Kids of all ages (up to 14 years old) are invited to make an appointment to read to a certified therapy dog! Reading to a nonjudgmental, patient listener can give children the encouragement they need to improve their reading skills. The child’s confidence will grow in this relaxed environment.  

Kids read in 20 minute increments and the only 
requirement is that the child MUST be able to read (beginning readers are welcome). To make an appointment for your child, call the Children’s Room or email Mrs. Brown.

In the first night of this two-part project, learn how you can use newspaper - and only newspaper - to create a house that's big enough to stand in! Middle School kids will help younger kids figure out how to build the house, and we'll spend this first night making plans and using newspaper to create the "bricks" and "mortar" that will be needed to build it!

Celebrate Attleboro's Portuguese community with traditional stories, music and dancing. The library building will be open late to let the fun continue!
 
This event is being held in partnership with the Escola Oficial Portuguesa. Teachers from the school will present a bilingual story and craft at 10am.
 
At 6pm, Grupo Raizes from East Providence will perform, followed by the Taunton Eagles folklore group at 7pm.

To help applicants in preparing an effective grant proposal requesting funding through an ACC grant, the Cultural Council each year holds a workshop, "Tips on Preparing a Grant Proposal to the Attleboro Cultural Council", at the Attleboro Public Library. 

The workshop is free and open to the public for residents, non-profit cultural organizations, artists, musicians, writers, lecturers, historians, environmentalists, actors, dancers, poets, hands-on science programs, and schools interested in applying for funding from the Attleboro Cultural Council.

The Biography Book Group meets once a month, generally on the first Monday, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. We read biographies, memoirs, autobiographies, and travel narratives. A variety of themes will be explored throughout the year.
