Keeping track of your business’s finances can be complicated, but a systematic approach with QuickBooks can make a world of difference. In this intensive series, participants will learn the basics of navigating the QuickBooks programs. 

The course will cover: Setting up and maintaining a financial and book keeping system using Quick Books. Understanding your companies basic financial statements. Common features including invoicing, entering and paying bills, entering credit card transactions, managing loans, entering data from merchant services processors, reconciling bank and credit card statements and entering data from non-QuickBooks point of sale systems.

Imagination is key to this year's The Big Read/Attleboro's 1 ABC programming. In celebration of International Literacy Day, The Literacy Center, Attleboro Public Library, Boston Super Heroes, Rotary Club of Attleboro, Battlegrounds Games and Hobbies, and YMCA of Attleboro will host this publicity kickoff at the Park with a family friendly oriented Super Heroes/Imaginary Figures day of activities in the Balfour Riverwalk: Feats of bravery; maze challenges, role playing games, international folktale/fable stories, Sciencetellers "Dreams and Dragons", the Wizard, and The Big Read materials and book giveaway. The Boston Super Heroes is a group made up of talented costumers all around New England dedicated to bringing your favorite comic book characters to life for local events. Do you like reading biographies? This month we will be discussing Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison, by Piper Kerman. This is a memoir of the author's incarceration in a minimum security prison for drug trafficking and money-laundering.

The Biography Book Group meets once a month, generally on the first Monday, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. We read biographies, memoirs, autobiographies, and travel narratives. A variety of themes will be explored throughout the year. New participants are welcome!

Understanding Mobile Technology and the Cloud

This workshop gives an overview of how people are using technology in a social, local and mobile capacity. Mobile applications as well as cloud storage and sharing will be addressed.

This free series is for individuals and small business owners  and is facilitated by Tricia White. Learn to use social media to market your business, network, and increase your professional productivity. 

Tricia White has been working with small business owners for the past 20 years. She was involved with a family owned business for 17 years, later becoming Executive Director of the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce. For 5+ years, she worked as a Senior Business Advisor with the Mass Small Business Development Center. Here she created numerous programs to help small businesses with social media strategies. For over 5 years, she has been an active food blogger on Friends Food Family and uses this to show small businesses the importance of having a website, blogging, engaging on social media and brand management.

Let your imagination take flight on a magical journey to the fantasy world of EarthSea, Create your own fantasy world in a six session Big Read Writers Workshop. If you can imagine it, you can write it. Find your magical world in the writing genres of Fantasy, Sci-fi, or Superheroes that you have had lurking in the corner of your mind since childhood. So dust off that wizard wand and hat! It is now time to escape to that fantasy world where you can make them come alive. Writing on your own or with others, learn how to cast your wizardry spell in a fun imaginative workshop. The workshop is to be held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. At the workshop, you will receive a complimentary copy of "A Wizard of EarthSea" along with related workshop materials and even a writing wand.

In response to "A Wizard of Earthsea's" emphasis on the natural world and overarching theme of essential harmony, the Attleboro Arts Museum presents an invitational exhibition entitled "The Balance of Nature." Fantasy-inspired artwork that explores the equality of forces that govern the natural world will be on display.

Exhibition dates: September 18th - 25th (closed Sunday and Monday).

Opening reception tonight from 7-9pm. Includes a keynote presentation from Michael Hughes on "Magic in the Wizard of Earthsea" and an artist recognition ceremony.

To help applicants in preparing an effective grant proposal requesting funding through an ACC grant, the Cultural Council each year holds a workshop, "Tips on Preparing a Grant Proposal to the Attleboro Cultural Council", at the Attleboro Public Library. 

The workshop is free and open to the public for residents, non-profit cultural organizations, artists, musicians, writers, lecturers, historians, environmentalists, actors, dancers, poets, hands-on science programs, and schools interested in applying for funding from the Attleboro Cultural Council.

Watch and learn as a professional graphic artist, illustrator and author creates scenes for fantasy graphic stories and digitally draws imaginative illustrations, many based on ancient Celtic mythology. If you can imagine it, you can write it. Find your magical world in the writing genres of Fantasy, Sci-fi, or Superheroes that you have had lurking in the corner of your mind since childhood. So dust off that wizard wand and hat! It is now time to escape to that fantasy world where you can make them come alive. Writing on your own or with others, learn how to cast your wizardry spell in a fun imaginative workshop. The workshop is to be held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. At the workshop, you will receive a complimentary copy of "A Wizard of EarthSea" along with related workshop materials and even a writing wand.

Kids of all ages (up to 14 years old) are invited to make an appointment to read to a certified therapy dog! Reading to a nonjudgmental, patient listener can give children the encouragement they need to improve their reading skills. The child’s confidence will grow in this relaxed environment.  

Kids read in 20 minute increments and the only requirement is that the child MUST be able to read (beginning readers are welcome).

As part of the Big Read festivities, following a GPS geocache locator on your phone or a GPS device, participants will be guided by Land Trust members on trails through forests, over swamps, into meadows and woodlands to locate 5 hidden treasure chests containing clues to discover the secret behind the wizard of Earthsea’s power! Land Trust members can assist participants in downloading the geocaching app on site but it would help if you downloaded the app in advance. With an android smartphone, register for a free user account called C:Geo at www.geocaching.com. For an iphone, install the free app called Geocaching Intro. Geocaching is super fun activity for kids and adults of all ages. Small groups of participants will be following Ged’s quest and solving a puzzle as well as locating and getting credit for the 5 official geocaches located on site! Don't have a phone - no worries, someone in the group will have one.

If you can imagine it, you can write it. Find your magical world in the writing genres of Fantasy, Sci-fi, or Superheroes that you have had lurking in the corner of your mind since childhood. So dust off that wizard wand and hat! It is now time to escape to that fantasy world where you can make them come alive. Writing on your own or with others, learn how to cast your wizardry spell in a fun imaginative workshop. The workshop is to be held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. At the workshop, you will receive a complimentary copy of "A Wizard of EarthSea" along with related workshop materials and even a writing wand.
