The Kripalu yogic tradition emphasizes compassion and self-acceptance. It isn't about striving for a perfect body or a perfect execution of a pose. What matters is how fully we can embody each pose and how present we can be in each moment of our lives.

During this weekly event you will make your own cape, mask and everything else you need to be transformed into a superhero.

To register, go to www.attleborolibrary.org, hover over the “calendar” tab on the home page, and click on “event registration”.   You will be taken to a list of all the Library’s current programs.  Select the program you are interested in and fill in the required information.  You will receive a confirmation e-mail once the registration is approved.

Kids of all ages (up to 14 years old) are invited to make an appointment to read to a certified therapy dog! Reading to a nonjudgmental, patient listener can give children the encouragement they need to improve their reading skills. The child’s confidence will grow in this relaxed environment.  

Kids read in 20 minute increments and the only 
requirement is that the child MUST be able to read (beginning readers are welcome). To make an appointment for your child, call the Children’s Room or email Mrs. Brown.

Join us for a book discussion of Twelve Years a Slave, by Solomon Northup. Kidnapped into slavery in 1841, Solomon Northup spent 12 years in captivity. This autobiographical memoir provides a detailed and accurate description of slave life and plantation society.

The Biography Book Group meets once a month, generally on the first Monday, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. We read biographies, memoirs, autobiographies, and travel narratives. A variety of themes will be explored throughout the year.

To help applicants in preparing an effective grant proposal requesting funding through an ACC grant, the Cultural Council each year holds a workshop, "Tips on Preparing a Grant Proposal to the Attleboro Cultural Council", at the Attleboro Public Library. 

The workshop is free and open to the public for residents, non-profit cultural organizations, artists, musicians, writers, lecturers, historians, environmentalists, actors, dancers, poets, hands-on science programs, and schools interested in applying for funding from the Attleboro Cultural Council.
