Democracy House is partnering with the Edison Public Library to establish the Book Buddies program.  Book Buddies is a literacy program focused on enhancing the reading skills and abilities of elementary school aged children.  Readers will meet with a volunteer and spend the 45 minutes session once a week for 3 weeks, reading age and skill-level appropriate books and engaging in literacy centered activities.   Book Buddies volunteers are currently enrolled college students who have been accepted to the Bonner Leader Program.  Bonner Leaders are hand selected for the program through a rigorous application and interview process.  They must pass a federal background check, and receive weekly leadership and professional development training.

Limit is 5 books per person.  Books donated to the library for the swap must be in good condition (no stains, no writing in them, etc.)

You will receive a coupon for each book donated (5 limit) and you can turn the coupons in for the books you have selected from our tables.
