Bedtime Story Hour continues Monday evenings this fall at 6:30pm!  Put on your coziest PJs, grab a stuffed animal friend and join Miss Amy for 30 minutes of silly stories, songs, rhymes and the chance to “Go Bananas!” This program is suited for kids ages 4 and up. Bedtime Story Hour will run from August 28 through December 18th. Registration is not required. Our story hour programs are funded by the Friends of the Library.

The Abington Public Library will welcome back award-winning author Stephen Puleo on Thursday January 25 at 7:00 PM.  Puleo's most recent book, American Treasures tells the story of the creation and the secret efforts to save America's priceless documents:  the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Gettysburg Address.  Copies of American Treasures will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

Steve is an experienced, dynamic, and in-demand speaker and presenter, who has made more than 450 public appearances, before thousands of readers, since the publication of his first book, Dark Tide, in 2003.  All of Steve's books have been Boston regional bestsellers, as well as receiving favorable reviews in the Boston Globe and in national media such as the New York Times and the Associated Press.  Steve is a former award-winning newspaper reporter and contributor of feature stories and book reviews to publications that include American History Magazine and the Boston Globe.   Puleo has taught history at Suffolk University in Boston, and also has developed and taught numerous writing workshops for high school and college students, as well as for adults who aspire to be writers

Join us as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Abington Public Library building and the 40th Anniversary of the Friends of the Library on Sunday January 28th at 2:00 PM.  The popular musical group Four Guys in Tuxes will perform.  This group has a huge repertoire of songs including jazz, swing, rock, and blues music.  Four Guys in Tuxes will bring instrumental and vocal music to the Library.  The playlist is limited only by your imagination as audience requests are encouraged!  There will be space for spontaneous dancing in the aisles.  This is a great opportunity to chase away the mid-winter doldrums by joining an exciting celebration.  Finger foods will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Library following the concert.

We are happy to welcome back historian Dr. Gary Hylander!  Tonight at 7:00 PM Dr. Hylander will share his knowledge and insights about Vietnam and the Tet Offensive.  This is the 50th anniversary of the major offensive launched by the North Vietnamese and communist Viet Cong forces during Tet, the lunar New Year.  The United States and South Vietnames forces sustained heavy losses before repelling the assault.  The Tet Offensive played a pivotal role in weakening public support in the United States for the Vietnam War.  Registration is not necessary for this program; up to 60 people will be accomdotated on first-to-arrive basis.  Dr. Hylander's lecture is funded by State Aid to Public Libraries.
