Preschool Story Hour is back for the winter and spring beginning on Thursday, January 17th and running through Thursday, May 9th! Preschool Story Hour is for children ages 3.5 -5 and who are able to separate from their parent/caregiver for the first part of the program. This program consists of 30 minutes of longer stories, rhymes and the chance to "Go Bananas" followed by a craft. Preschool story hour is a registered event and sign-ups begin on Wednesday, January 9th. Once a child is registered, they will hold a spot for the entire 15-week session. Our story hours are funded by the Friends of the Library.

The Abington Public Library is pleased to welcome back historian Dr. Gary Hylander. On Thursday January 17th at 7:00 PM, Dr. Hylander will share his knowledge and insights about the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. “Teddy” had a larger-than-life personality and became president after the assassination of William McKinley in 1901. He was elected to a second term and served as president until 1909. Some of his greatest achievements as president were in the areas of conservation, including establishing national forests, and foreign policy, creating a new role for the United States on the world stage.


Registration is not necessary for this program; up to 75 people will be accommodated on first-to-arrive basis. Dr. Hylander's lecture is funded by State Aid to Public Libraries.

One of our favorite programs, Barn Babies, returns on Saturday, January 19th! Children of all ages are invited to come and cuddle with a variety of baby farm animals. There will be puppies, kittens, bunnies, a pig, and- of course- a goat in a diaper! Is there a more adorable way to spend a Saturday afternoon!? There will be two sessions to choose from: 1:00 or 1:30 PM. Registration is required and begins on January 8th. Have you visited the top of Mount Washington?  An infamous place of extremes, 6,288-foot Mount Washington, New Hampshire has been captivating audiences for hundreds of years.  Will Broussard, outreach coordinator for the Mount Washington Observatory will share Tales from the Home of the World’s Worst Weather on Thursday January 24th at 7:00 PM at the Abington Public Library.  This program was originally scheduled for November, but, in an ironic twist, was postponed due to a major snowstorm in the Mount Washington area. 

Registration is not necessary for this program; seventy-five people will be accommodated on a first-to-arrive basis.  This program is appropriate for adults, teens and older children (age ten and up), and is provided with State Aid to Public Libraries funds.  Please direct questions to Library Director Deborah Grimmett at 781-982-2139, or via email at ablib@ocln.org.

Ready… Set… Lego! Our library Lego Club returns for the winter and spring, so get ready to use your imagination and build, build, build! This program consists of 30 minutes of longer stories, rhymes and the chance to "Go Bananas" followed by a craft. Preschool story hour is a registered event and sign-ups begin on Wednesday, January 9th. Once a child is registered, they will hold a spot for the entire 15-week session. Our story hours are funded by the Friends of the Library.

Ready… Set… Lego! Our library Lego Club returns for the winter and spring, so get ready to use your imagination and build, build, build! Lego Club is for children in kindergarten and up, but we will have Duplos available for any younger friends who wish to create. Children attending the club must be accompanied by an adult. This program is from 3:30-4:30 and no registration necessary. A BIG thank you to all of the community members who donated the supplies that make this club possible.
