The Jones Gang

Saturday, July 14   @2 p.m.

Home

The Jones Gang (formerly Houston Jones) is still trucking. A collection of misfits and malcontents who, like a hippy transformer, assemble into something much greater than the sum of its parts. An insane collection of rock, funk (Motown and Louisiana), gospel, blues, folk and country. The band covers a musical history the size of the USA, in a tight and soulful style. The gang can move seamlessly from a murder ballad to a New Orleans rumba, first breaking your heart and then making you glad you’re alive.

SUNDAY CINEMA

FREE movies for adults @ the Castro Valley Library!

Join us for a showing of 15:17 to Paris (2018)

In the early evening of August 21, 2015, the world watched in stunned silence as the media reported a thwarted terrorist attack on Thalys train #9364 bound for Paris, an attempt prevented by three courageous young Americans traveling through Europe. The film follows the course of the friends' lives, from the struggles of childhood through finding their footing in life, to the series of unlikely events leading up to the attack. Throughout the harrowing ordeal, their friendship never wavers, making it their greatest weapon and allowing them to save the lives of the more than 500 passengers on board. Directed by Clint Eastwood and casting the actual heroes in the lead roles.  Rated PG-13, Run time 120 minutes.

Meditation: Experience Joy & Peace in a Troubled World

In recent years, psychologists are noticing a sharp increase in people's anxiety, insecurity, and distrust. Disruptive technologies; information overload; breakdown of traditional family and community supports; and brutally competitive economic and political trends are upsetting the comfortable certainties of the past.

To find peace and serenity while living in such a world, we must learn to tap into the deep wellsprings of calm, peace and serenity within each of us.  This process of turning within is called meditation, and it is available to everyone.

Please join psychiatrist Marshall Zaslove, MD, for this FREE, entertaining and enlightening workshop.  All participants will have a firsthand experience of the bliss and joy available within each of us.
