·      Meet the unique group of Artists who will make proposals for your community

·      This free event is open to the public and all ages are welcome

The Community Identifier Project involves designing and hand-painting the name of the community along with other simple design elements on freeway overpasses in Castro Valley, San Lorenzo and Ashland/Cherryland. In March 2017, three separate Artist Selection Committees, one for each community, met to review the qualifications and past work of a project pool of artists. The Selection Committees are comprised of community members and local artists. Each Selection Committee selected five artists who have been invited to create proposals for the Community Identifier Projects. The Community Roundtables are an important opportunity for the artists to learn more about the communities before creating their proposals.  Community members are encouraged to attend to share their thoughts about the special characteristics of their community and how those should be reflected in the designs of the Community Identifiers. The events will include a facilitated group discussion and other opportunities for the community and artists to interact and share ideas and information.

Your input is valued and needed!

Don’t miss this opportunity to share your ideas!

Can’t make it to the meeting but still want to share your ideas?

Go to http://tinyurl.com/ztqzvan to take a short survey! Your responses will be shared with the artist semi-finalists who are making proposals, and your comments will help influence the artists' designs for the Community Identifiers. We want you, the community, to be proud of the designs and feel like it represents your community.

Let’s stay in touch!

The best way to stay informed and involved is to be added to the Alameda County Arts Commission’s email list for this project. Send us an email at artscommission@acgov.org. If you don’t have email, we’ll send you updates by mail. Call us at (510) 208-9646 to provide your address. Visit www.acgov.org/arts (click on “What’s New”) for the latest project update.

4T Digital Makerspace

A time and place where you can come with your laptop (or borrow one from the library!) and hang out with others working on your digital projects. We'll focus on Scratch programming, which is perfect for those who are new to programming.  This is a place to work on your own projects and get help when needed.  We can also help with making Minecraft mods, working with iPad apps for art and photo editing, and much more. We welcome more experienced kids and adults who can mentor others as well.  This is a great way to build on your STime projects!

Scratch - perfect for those new to programming
Alice - the next step after Scratch
