Are you thinking that now is the time to begin eating healthier, but you don’t want to give up those desserts you really enjoy? Do food allergies or dietary restrictions prevent your family members from enjoying the sweets they crave? Would you like to know how to adapt your favorite baked recipes to accommodate almost any food need you and your family have? Learn the “secrets” to substituting ingredients in recipes to create desserts which not only are healthier for you but delicious tasting, too.

Through her personal experience and her knowledge from cooking for family owned restaurants, Paula Castner has almost forty years of familiarity with food allergies and almost twenty years of experience with hypoglycemic and diabetic requirements. Unwilling to give up the treats she likes to eat, she has spent years discovering and perfecting the best ways to make cakes, cookies, breads, and more which meet a variety of dietary needs but also satisfy the desire for something tasty and sweet.

American author and naturalist Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) is best known for spending one night in jail for nonpayment of the state poll tax, and for living for two years along the shores of Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. More than a century and a half later, his essays and books are still being read, and his words are still printed on inspirational posters and greeting cards. What were his basic philosophies, and how do they resound with us today? Join writer and poet Corrine H. Smith and learn a bit more about this "Transcendentalist" what threads may connect us to him today.

Corinne H. Smith is a writer and poet who worked as a librarian for more than 30 years. Along the way, she earned a degree in outdoor teacher education. She is the author of Westward I Go Free: Tracing Thoreau's Last Journey, the first book to follow Henry Thoreau's 1861 trip from Massachusetts to Minnesota; and a biography and activity book for middle-schoolers, Henry David Thoreau for Kids: His Life and Ideas, With 21 Activities. What is Infant Massage?

Infant massage is a form of loving communication that fosters bonding and trust between parent and child. The strokes are a combination of Swedish and Indian Style massage as well as Reflexology.

In our culture, the concept of infant massage may be relatively new but it has been very popular for centuries in other parts of the world.

The Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine, carried out numerous studies on the effects of massage on infants. From Preterm babies, infants with sleep problems to colic, the Institute confirms the importance of a secure environment and nurturing touch in the healthy growth, development and maturation of children.

Infant Massage is a natural and enjoyable method of providing nurturing, bonding contact during a baby’s early life. The developmental benefits of positive contact and bonding is truly immeasurable.

This one time introductory workshop will teach you how to massage, relax, and soothe your newborn to pre-crawling baby.
