In 2011, Velya Jancz-Urban and her family bought a foreclosed farmhouse in Woodbury CT, unaware of what the house would reveal.  Behind the walls, surprises and secrets waited to be exposed.  This became the spark for her novel Acquiescence.  Moving into this 1770 farmhouse ignited Velya's interest in the colonial era.  While researching her novel, she became obsessed (in a good way) with colonial women.  This program is not about quilting bees and spinning wheels-it's an interactive presentation about the little-known issues faced by New England's colonial women.

Space is limited so please call the library or register online for this event.

Join Judith Sessler as she discusses her newest book, The Legacy of Aidan McManus...
It was turn-of-the-century Ireland when Sheila O'Reilly, the fiery red-headed beauty, met and married handsome Ian McManus. She never imagined their life together would take them far across the ocean to start a new life in America. As poor, Irish immigrants, they settled in a Lower East Side tenement and their new life began.

Their story is a legacy of love and tragedy that is woven through the generations. We are introduced to Aidan's granddaughter, Nora, at his funeral and taken back through the years to the inspiring and heartwarming, yet often tragic stories that span a century.
