CODE CLUB IS BACK !

Want to learn how to make animation, video games, apps, and websites? Join Coding Club on Saturdays and collaborate with other learning coders.

We have coders as young as 10, but you should be able to type and follow basic math and logic.  Headphones/earbuds, notebook and writing utensils are highly recommended.   

Funded by the Avon Lake City Schools Foundation and Avon Lake Public Library.

 Join in our dance party with our DJ. Take your pictures with a princess, super hero, the Ghostbusters, or Star Wars characters. A Matter of Balance is an eight week nationally recognized program designed to reduce the risk of falling. Participants will learn how to view the fear of falling as controllable, how to set realistic goals to increase activity, and change an environment to reduce risk. This program is sponsored and conducted by Fairhill Partners, a non-profit agency devoted to successful aging. Particpants must expect to attend all sessions. Attendance at the first session is required to participate. Space is limited.

We’re so excited to have Ironwood Wolves of from central Ohio coming to present The Wolf: Fact vs Myth, that will include bringing one of their wolf ambassadors for all to see! This is a general informative presentation that talks about the wolf family life, habitat, diet, and basic myths and facts. They’ll also speak about their important role in the ecosystem, and why we have no reason to fear these amazing animals. So get to see a wolf up close, hear about these magical creatures, and learn about what makes them so special. This program is free and no registration is required! You're invited to channel your inner Bob Ross and join us for our Happy Little Trees Painting Programs! Professional painter and instructor Robin Gavin, will lead each class from start to finish, with each student taking home their own special and unique painting. This fall, most all of the sessions are inspired by famous artists! All supplies are provided, including tools, paint brushes, canvases, and required materials. Each class is limited to 15 students. Ever wanted to write a book?  We’ve invited twenty local and regional authors, with a range of interests and materials, for a special day.  In the morning, our authors will form panels of interest to aspiring authors and readers. Topics will ranges from how to get published, the writing process, marketing and so much more! Come with questions!

In the afternoon, some authors will read from their work, but each other will also be set up for the public to meet, give everyone a chance to tallk with the various authors, as well as purchase and have them sign their works. Light refreshments will be provided at Noon.

To provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old. Please bring a lunch and snacks. CPR certification is not included in this course.
