The second installment of the Blockbuster Books on Film Movie & Lecture Series, presented through the cooperation of Chessboard Creative and The Andrew Carnegie Free Library Library! Countless classic films have been based on books. In many cases, the book became more popular due to its portrayal on screen, though in others, the film far out shown the source material with the book falling into obscurity. Each installment of this series begins with an informative lecture by Chessboard Creative Executive Director Brian Edward, examining a classic film production and the history of book on which it is based, followed by a screening of the movie in the Music Hall of the Andrew Carnegie Free Library. Admission to the event is free and will include opportunities to purchase raffle tickets for prizes related to the evening's feature.

ACFL&MH Annual Civil War Day
| |
The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall presents– The Road to Gettysburg.
2013 marks the 150 year anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. During the last weeks of June both Union and Confederate troops were traveling the roads of Pennsylvania headed North . The ACFL&MH creates a look back in history as they revisit a day in the life of a union regiment camped on the grounds on their way to this epic battle. This day long free event will offer tours of the Capt. Thos. Espy Post No. 153 of the Grand Army of the Republic, a living history encampment, talks by historians, re enactors and authors, and a concert of period music performed on period instruments by the Pittsburgh Historical Music Society. Tours at Chartiers Cemetery, the final resting place of many Civil War Veterans, will be available throughout the day.

The third installment of the Blockbuster Books on Film Movie & Lecture Series, presented through the cooperation of Chessboard Creative and The Andrew Carnegie Free Library Library!

The fourth installment of the Blockbuster Books on Film Movie & Lecture Series, presented through the cooperation of Chessboard Creative and The Andrew Carnegie Free Library Library!
