Reading is vital for children to succeed in school and in life, but many of them struggle with reading. What better listener than a friendly, non-judgmental dog from the Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs program? These programs are growing in libraries across the country and researchers report a rise in reading levels among participating children. Independent readers (grades 1-5) can bring a favorite book from home or choose one from the library, and read it to a furry friend while here at the library!
Pre-registration IS required and can be done in person or online starting Monday, January 8th at 10:00 a.m. To submit a registration request, please click on the Register or Wait List button below.

The educational program introduces children and adults to the world of raptors. These hawks, owls and falcons are well trained, and with the assistance of BPRC education specialists, show you what makes them an important part of our environment. You will discover their roles in the food chain and their unique adaptations to hunt in woodland, wetlands and prairies. Raptors of different species and sizes will be used to demonstrate their capabilities. There’s no better way to learn about the birds of prey in North Texas than to meet them in person!

Pre-registration IS required and can be done in person or online starting Monday, May 20th at 10:00 a.m. To submit a registration request, please click on the Register or Wait List button below.
