Hedgehog made out of a bookYou asked, so we deliver! Our popular book-folding hedgehog craft is back. Drop in between 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM and we'll guide you through creating the cutest little hedgehog you could make out of a paperback book (Actual craft will only take an hour or so). This activity is for youth in grades 6-12. No registration required.

The Children’s Room is pleased to announce a new Irish Step Dance Program offered by Greene-Roy Academy of Irish Dance.  In this program, the children will have the opportunity to learn the basics of Irish Step Dancing in a fun, friendly setting. 

  • Children ages 3-5 are invited to register online for this free program.
  • Students registering must be age 3 by January 1, 2018.
  • Classes will take place on Thursdays from 10-10:45 a.m. beginning January 11 and ending May 31.  (No classes March 1 and April 19)   

Online registration begins Monday, December 4 at 9 a.m.

Registration is required as space is limited to 15 children.

A wait-list will be maintained.

 Heritage Ballet of Lincoln presents its Creative Dance Community Series at the Cumberland Public Library!

• Children ages 3-4 will have the opportunity to experience classical ballet training with a talented ballet instructor right at the library.
• Each class will include a healthy mix of basic beginner ballet steps and creative movement done through popular children’s songs and freestyle dancing.  Students ages 3 & 4 will enjoy the program free of cost and those in the second session will have the opportunity to perform in a year end “Culmination Performance” at the Stadium Theater in Woonsocket.  
• The program will run in two sessions within the “school year” in accordance with Heritage Ballet’s 2017-2018 schedule and in conjunction with the Cumberland Public Library every Thursday.
• Classes will be on Thursdays, Group One will be from 3:00-3:50pm, Group Two will be from 4:00-4:50pm.
• No prior experience needed!
• Age Requirements:  Students registering must be age 3 or 4 by September 1st, 2017.

Term Dates:

Join instructor Janice Babikian, a crafter who enjoys making and teaching a variety of different crafts, for this unique hands-on workshop!

Each attendee will be supplied with a 12” x 14” piece of unfinished wood, acrylic paint (of their choice) to stain the wood and a stencil from a choice of 3.  Also provided will be gloves, baby wipes, stencils, foam brushes and chalk paints.  Attendees will leave with a beautiful handcrafted sign, ready to hang.

Sometimes it's good to be bad--especially at Bad Art Night! Everyone has access to a pile of ridiculous craft and art materials - your goal is to create the “worst” piece of art will win a hideously tacky trophy and crown at the end of the night. Let the worst artist win!

Get creative, start crafting!  Build imaginative worlds and battle nocturnal creatures at Minecraft Club.  Novice or expert, join the club and play with your friends in our very own world.  Each club consists mainly of free play.  Sometimes there are group activities, challenges, and/or MineCrafts.  We provide laptops, accounts, and a secure server environment in which to explore and create!  Registration for both the Wednesday and Thursday Minecraft programs open the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm.  This program is for children in grades 2-5.  Don't forget, there is Minecraft Club on the first Thursdays of the month as well, if the last Wednesday of the month is full!

On this day, be among the millions participating in this world wide event by attending a free yoga class at the Cumberland Public Library!  Discover how yoga builds strength and flexibility, relieves stress, reduces lower back pain, and improves mood, posture, balance, concentration, and much more. Celebrate yoga, celebrate life!  No yoga experience necessary. Please bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. All participants must sign a waiver form prior to participating in the yoga class.

On Saturday, June 23rd  the New England Electric Auto Association (NEEAA) will be hosting a hybrid/electric car show and ride-and-drive event from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.  

Several dealers will be present with the latest hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicles and will be offering test drives. Actual owners will also be present to share ownership experiences. Light refreshments will be served. 

Stop by and chat with owners and maybe take one for a spin!
