    Mudbound Dighton Public Library's Book Discussion Group is meeting to chat about Hillary Jordan's acclaimed debut novel, Mudbound. Mudbound is her nickname for the new farm in the Mississippi Delta that Laura moves to with her new husband in post World War II America. Laura has difficulty adjusting to life without electricity, indoor plumbing, readily accessible medical care for her two children and, worst of all, life with her live-in misogynous, racist, father-in-law. Her days become more bearable as she gets to know the family of her African-American tenant farmers and her brother-in-law, just home from the War.

  Come in for our first "Bad Movie Night" and laugh at this old movie and enjoy popcorn, snacks and a drink while you laugh a the horrible "special effects".

Sigourney Weaver plays a warden at Camp Green Lake with an unusual method of discipline.  The camp makes all of its wards dig large holes under the guise of building character.  The real reason is a plan to find a buried treasure left in the desert long ago.

David Rottenberg, the author of "Gwendolyn the Graceful Pig", will be reading his book about this graceful pig while dancers from "Smith School of Dance" act the story out.  There will be a movement lesson after the storytelling for all children who would like to dance like Gwendolyn. 

David's books will be available for sale and the author will autograph his books for anyone interested.

This program will be held in the Dighton Lion's Club pavillion behind the town hall.

Mr. Rickman is the founder of The Rickman Group, a Providence-based management consultant firm, offering advice to companies and nonprofits to improve their strategic, financial and operational position and performance. Middle School students are invited to come to the library and talk about this suspense novel.
When Sam discovers an old newspaper clipping just before his eleventh birthday, it brings forth memories from his past, and, with the help of a new friend and the castle they are building, his questions are eventually answered.
Eighth graders who read this book can join the book group as a summer reading requirement.
