by Daniel Kalla

Excerp from Book List Review:
One of the more obscure aspects of the Holocaust is the saga of the Shanghai Jews, those Jews who fled persecution eastward and endured a precarious wartime existence in China.
Kalla, a practicing physician in Vancouver, British Columbia, is the author of six novels. He has written an exciting, often touching story that combines wartime peril and romance in an attractive mix.
