5:30 PM  -  8:00 PM Creative Writing Workshop @ Riverside Branch Library
    Contact: Meredith Bonds-Harmon   (401)434-2453   mbonds@eastprovidencelibrary.org
On Thursday evenings, 5:30pm to 8:00pm, from May 2nd through June 13th (no class May 30th) you can find the focus and freedom to explore and develop your work. Whether your preferred genre is short story, memoir, dramatic writing, personal essay, or a hybrid of forms, each session will include prompts and exercises to spur your writer’s mind; there will be time to write, share your work, and receive feedback as part of supportive and constructive discussion.

The instructor will shape the direction and content of classes to the group’s interests, working with topics such as character development; monologues and dialogue; creating a sense of place; choosing a point of view; and exploring form and structure.

Instructor Kate Lohman is currently earning an MFA in Creative Writing at Goddard College in Plainfield, VT. During her career as an actor, director, and artistic director in local, regional and New York theatre, Kate enjoyed opportunities to write and adapt for the stage. She is elated to be focusing now on writing, and grateful to explore working in genres in addition to playwriting.

This workshop series is free and open to adults. Registration is limited to 10. Call 433-4877 to register for all 6 workshops. THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN FILLED, REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
