PRESENTED BY LORI GREEN, RN. Knowing what to do during the first few minutes of a medical emergency can save a child’s life! Lori Green, a Registered Nurse, certified CPR instructor and former EMT, will provide instruction in the life-saving techniques of Infant and Child CPR and the Heimlich maneuver for choking. Certification will be given upon completion of this three-hour workshop. The cost of $35 (check or money order only) is payable at the time of registration . Registration is at the Reference desk and begins Wednesday, May 15 for Glen Cove residents and Wednesday, May 22 for all others, space permitting. Since December 2006, through a website program called AnySoldier.com, we have been gathering numerous items generously donated by people in our community and collected in the Library. These items are sent to our soldiers serving in Afghanistan. This is an ongoing effort and we need your help organizing the donations into boxes and bringing them to the Post Office. Your assistance is welcome and can earn community service credit. Any donations to send to the soldiers would also be appreciated.

SUMMER READING CLUB 2013 KICKOFF!

Children are invited to sign up for the Glen Cove Public Library’s Summer Reading Club and attend fun and educational programs planned for children from preschool to grade 5. This summer’s theme, “Dig Into Reading!” reflects the ability of books to open our minds to new ideas and transport us to different experiences. Children will keep a record of what they read, and can receive prizes for continuing to read throughout the summer. “Grins and Grins” will kick off our Summer Reading Club on Monday, July 1st at 7pm.
