The Friends of the Gloversville Public Library was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1974 to assist the library in its mission of serving this community. The Friends have more than 300 members who donate time, as well as money, to help improve the Gloversville Public Library.

The Friends hold this monthly business meeting on the first Thursday of each month at 6 PM.

This presentation shares the story of USS SLATER and why she was chosen to become the Destroyer Escort Historic Museum.

Stories will be shared about the history of Destroyer Escorts, the SLATER’s involvement in WWII, her service in the Greek Navy, and all of her restoration turning her into a world class museum.

Presented by a SLATER volunteer, you will get a first-hand look at the hard work that goes into keeping the “Old Girl” afloat.

   4:00 PM Juggling & Acrobatics Show with Scotty Nut Nut  
   

Scotty Nut Nut has been juggling for 30 years since 1987. His favorite is 3 ball speed tricks, but also does 4 and 5 ball tricks, as well as clubs, swords, plate spinning, some poi, contact juggling, flower sticks, and cigar boxes. He is a juggling instructor and has taught hundreds of people. His wife, Gabby, does scarf juggling.

Gabby Nut Nut started out dancing at the age of 3, and did performances and ballet competitions until 15. Then she started competitive cheerleading in high school and came in 2nd in Nationals which was held in Disney World!

When Gabby met Scotty, they started practicing AcroYoga together in March 2012, and as of July 2014, they are certified Level 2 AcroYoga Montreal Style teachers, and perform shows which include acro-juggling as part of their entertainment!
