     Friends' Half-Price Book Sale
Contact: Public Information Coordinator   219-931-5100 x310

Book Sale photo    Friends of the Library conduct a half-price book sale on the last Saturday of most months.
There is no sale in November or December. Find a bargain on books, movies and music. Sale
excludes specially priced items and sets. Proceeds allow the Friends to fund items, services
and programs that the library could not otherwise afford.

The Book Sale Room is continuously open during library hours, and regular prices apply.
When no Friends member is on duty, please bring your purchases to the Circulation Desk.

  • The Friends accept new members. Membership year runs from January-December. Every library could use a Friend! Membership forms are found at the Information Center in the lobby, or in the Book Sale Room..
  •
  • The Friends accept donations of gently-used books, magazines, CDs, records, cassettes, and DVDs. Please bring donations to the Circulation Desk during library hours. Items may be added to the library collection; offered for sale in the Book Sale Room; or given to a distributor that either sells the book online on HPL's behalf, or recycles books to keep them out of landfills. In any case, your donations benefit the library and the environment.

Banished to a deserted island, Prpspero uses magic to conjure a storm and cause a shipwreck to the men responsible for his banishment on the island.

Various plots against the main characters fail throughout the play, with all forgiven in the end.

This month's discussion is on Before I Go to Sleep, by Steven J. Watson.
Every day Christine wakes up not knowing where she is. Her memories disappear every time she falls asleep. Her husband, Ben, is a stranger to her, and he's obligated to explain their life together on a daily basis--all the result of a mysterious accident that made Christine an amnesiac. With the encouragement of her doctor, Christine starts a journal to help jog her memory every day. One morning, she opens it and sees that she's written three unexpected and terrifying words: Don't trust Ben. Suddenly everything her husband has told her falls under suspicion. What kind of accident caused her condition? Who can she trust? Why is Ben lying to her? And, for the reader: Can Christine's story be trusted?
