Payment accepted:  cash/credit/debit/farmers market coupons/SNAP/HIP dollars.

HIP doubles your SNAP purchase for local produce.  If you have SNAP, you have HIP!

Visit the market and learn if you qualify for SNAP.

The Growing Places Market will usually be at the library on the 1st Tuesday of the month, please check our calendar for the date.

Story Time and Craft with the Family Partnership

Join the Family Partnership Center to read stories, sing songs and make a craft. This program is open to children ages 0 to 6 years old and their caregivers.
Sign up on FPC's website or drop in.
The Family Partnership is a non-profit program funded by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care through the Coordinated Family & Community Engagement Grant.  

   2:15 PM  -  4:00 PM Solar Eclipse Watch Party  
   

On April 8th we will experience a Total Solar Eclipse! While Shirley is not in the path of the totality, we will still experience approximately 92% obscuration. The eclipse will begin at approximately 2:20 pm with maximum obscuration of 92% occurring at 3:29 pm and then the partial eclipse will conclude around 4:30 pm. 

Join us for our Outdoor Solar Eclipse Watch Party starting at 2:25 pm. We will have an Alien Scavenger Hunt and a STEM Astronaut Training course.

Solar glasses will be available and given out during our event! Except during the brief total phase of a total eclipse, when the Moon completely block's the Sun, it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized viewing any part of the bright Sun without specialized eye protection. Please do not view any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filtered optics will cause severe eye injury.

This program is for all ages! Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child. No drop offs allowed.

   10:00 AM  -  12:30 PM 3rd Annual LEGO Builder Showcase  
   

3rd Annual LEGO Builder's Showcase LEGO at the Library for ages 12 and under! 

2024 Challenge will be space themed to celebrate the Solar Eclipse with a LEGO character. 

There are two age groups Grades K through 2nd and 3rd through 6th. LEGO creations should not be larger than 10 x 10. Participants are encouraged to build their own designs. All entries must be in by April 13th at 12:30 pm. All projects must be taken home on May 4th by 12:30 pm.

 Rules will be available at the Front Desk.
Drop off your project on the 13th of April between 10:00 am until 12:30 pm.
Voting begins on April 16th through May 2nd and winners will announced on May 4th. Please pick up all projects on May 4th.

This program is funded by the Friends of the Hazen Memorial Library.

Zumbini with Julie Quirk

Join us for a fun music and movement class called Zumbini. Julie Quirk from Fitchburg's Studio Q, a licensed Zumba and Zumbini instructor will facilitate this class.

Zumbini is a 45 minute interactive experience for little ones ages 1 to 4 years old and their caregivers.

Motivational music! Colorful scarves!

Rhythm Sticks! Bongo Drums! Bubbles! Bells!

Parachute Play! Egg shakers!

Drumming at the Library with Matt Steinberg

Join professional drummer and educator Matt Steinberg for some drum circle fun. Learn to play rhythmic patterns in a group setting, play drumming games, and express yourself through an instrument.

Drums and percussion instruments will be provided. This is a six weeks program that you will need to commit to all 6 Thursdays in a row starting April 25th and ending on May 30th.

This program is for grades 2nd through 5th. Registration is a must. Please call us to reserve your 6 week drumming lessons at 978-425-2620 or visit us at the Front Desk.
