Looking for something to do on a Friday morning? The Lincoln Public Library is showing La La Land on June 23rd at 10:00 AM on the big screen in the Program Room.

Beauty and the Beast

 

Join us on Wednesday, June 28th at 2:00 PM for Beauty and the Beast. Watch it on the big screen!

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. (PG, 129 min.)

Learn real life skills and techniques for the zombie apocalypse!  Open to ages 10 and up, participants in this hands-on workshop will learn:  

-Basic first aid and first aid kits

-How to shoot a real crossbow (with safe foam-tipped arrows designed for indoors)

-How to deisgn an emergency bag or "Bug Out Bag"

-How to "lost proof" yourself 

-Knots and lashings

-How to construct an emergency shelter

The Lincoln Public Library is offering a Safe Sitter Program on Friday, July 14th.  This one-day program is designed for ages 11-14.  Training will include babysitting as a business, childcare, behavior management skills, and infant & child CPR.  Students should bring a lunch, drink, and a snack.  Preregistration is required. The $50 fee is cash-only and expected at time of registration. Please come to the Reference Desk to register.  We cannot accept phone registrations.

If you like to read and eat, join the Cookbook Book Club!  We meet monthly after reading the assigned cookbook. This month's book is: My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes That Saved My Life by Ruth Reichl.

My Kitchen Year by Ruth ReichlEach member chooses a recipe to make and bring to the meeting. The leader logs the recipes to avoid duplication. At the meeting, we discuss the book, recipes and what we liked or did not like. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library the previous month. The library provides the utensils, plates and cups for our tasting.

Each member RSVPs with their choice of recipe by Friday, July 14th. Please bring along appropriate serving utensils for your dish.

From lizard lounges to millipede mansions, learn about a variety of different shelters animals build and use. During this exciting program, you will begin to understand the many ways in which they are similar to as well as different than our own homes. sculpey clay packageUse Sculpey clay to create pretty much anything you can mold and shape using the tools provided. Instruction is given to guide your creativity. Clay bakes for 15 minutes so you can take home a permanent piece of artwork you create yourself or together with your family. We provide the clay, you bring your creativity!

When Matthew Peyton inherits the family business, the responsibility of the Christmas pageant also falls on his shoulders. But as financial hardships fall on the town, Matthew finds himself overwhelmed. As his business profits plummet and his workers begin to strike, Matthew is forced to make a decision between selling the family business and canceling the beloved pageant or sticking out hardships despite his rapidly declining popularity in the community. Attention LEGO fans! We’re showing the LEGO Batman Movie on Tuesday, August 1st at 6:00 PM. LEGO Batman stars in his own big screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save t

he city from The Joker's hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. (PG, 104 min.)

After the movie, you’ll have the chance to design your own LEGO figure with paper and art supplies. Also, each person who attends will have a chance to win a good sized LEGO figure made out of chocolate!

New England Open House CookbookIf you like to read and eat, join the Cookbook Book Club!  We meet monthly after reading the assigned cookbook. Each member chooses a recipe to make and bring to the meeting. The leader logs the recipes to avoid duplication. At the meeting, we discuss the book, recipes and what we liked or did not like. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library.

This month's book is The New England Open-House Cookbook by Sarah Leah Chase. The library provides the utensils, plates and cups for our tasting. Each cook brings the appropriate serving utensils for their dish.

Join Karin Katin and learn how to hand sew. Children will learn 3-4 basic embroidery stitches, then design their own piece of art using a light box, pens, embroidery hoop and thread.
