Students will recreate Still Life exhibits from their choice of media and materials, i.e. painting (watercolors/oils) or drawing (charcoals/pastels.) Kristen Thornton will guide them through their projects as they work at their individual paces. Materials will be supplied for all programs, but students may bring their own supplies if they choose.  Limited to 10 participants.  Please call or email programreg@lymepl.org to register.  Please note: Fall Open Studio Classes will resume on September 12.

Summer Science Programs with Kendall Perkins (for children entering K-5), Wednesday, July 5th, and Tuesdays, July 18th, August 1st and 15th from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M.

 

Keeping with the summer reading theme of Build a Better World, participants will build bridges, enhance the world with music (build a musical instrument), and build with recycled and earth friendly materials. Each week they will explore a simple design concept, and a variety of materials.  These programs are hands on, and creative thought is encouraged.

Marc presents the history of the 50’s and 60’ through the lens of popular music of the time.  This is an engaging, humorous program in which the audience will relive this colorful time in our history.  This is a 2nd return engagement.  Marc performed at the library the last two years and they were standing room only!  Don’t miss your chance to see him this time around!

The Friday Afternoon Reading Group will begin its autumn season on September 8th.  The group meets at 2:00 on the second and fourth Fridays of each month through June.  New members and guests are cordially welcome.

At the meeting on September 8th members will share comments on reading that they've done during the summer.  This is a particularly enjoyable meeting.

Sam Ducharme who after retiring as a K-9 officer, decided to take on the adventure of hiking the Appalachian Trail. This modern day adventure started out from Springer Mountain, Georgia and after a 2180 mile, 14 state backpacking trip, ended at Mt. Katahdin in Maine. With no prior backpacking experience, he learned on the trail. Sam will share the stories of how he cooked, what it was like sleeping in a hammock for six months through three seasons and the rugged beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. The images and stories will leave you with a renewed awe of the beauty of our country and its people.
