This program is a great way to introduce your child to library story times and reading. Age appropriate books are shared with the group. Songs, nursery rhymes, puppets, and felt board figures create a rich audio-visual and social experience. After 20 minutes of structured group time, there is time for play and for socializing. No registration required.

Alphabet Alley is an unstructured play and learn period that has letter-learning toys to promote early literacy. The materials will be out in the youth department near the Library's Picture Books and Early Readers. 

It is for caregivers and children ages 1-5.

Registration is not required, drop in any time during the hour.  Cleanup begins at 12:15pm.

Materials have been purchased by the Friends of the Lawrence Library.

Craft, contest, quiz, activity station, game, challenge, book fun, scavenger hunt, puzzle, library skill, participatory display or other activity.

Come in any time or day, all week!

Visit the youth services department most weeks for a simple children’s contest, challenge or drawing. 
Children may enter once weekly, beginning on Thursday afternoons and ending on Wednesday evenings.
Random drawings will take place on most Thursday mornings.  A small prize will be awarded as advertised, or children may be able to choose a prize, depending on weekly themes. Themes and content will vary in appeal and appropriateness by age, but will normally be open to all children up through age 11. 

Specific prizes may match the age appropriateness of the challenge.
Activities on the entry form are intended for a child to complete during their library visit. 

Caregivers may assist younger children, as needed.

Themes and content will vary in appeal and appropriateness by age, but will normally be open to all children up through age 11.

Stop in and use our fun washable paint markers to create a project from scratch either by dotting or drawing freehand.
You can also use an activity sheet and use dotting to practice patterns, counting or to learn about shapes.
You can make up to 3 projects with our supplies.  New worksheets will be rotated in regularly.

Cleanup will be at noon.
