"Reading with Annie" is a special program that will be offered on three different days this summer.  Annie is a therapy dog from Therapy Dogs International, and she loves to listen to children read!  This program is for children who are new to reading books aloud or who may need a little extra practice reading aloud.   In this program, your child will read to Annie for 15 minutes, and your child will choose the book to read to Annie.  Annie will be here for one hour, which is enough time for four children to read to her.  You may only sign up for ONE session with Annie so choose your date and time wisely.  We ask that you arrive (with your book) 10 minutes prior to your slot time so we can keep the program moving. Registration begins June 24th at 9am.

Leonardo da Vinci was a true hero in the art world, but did you know he was also an inventor, a musician, an engineer, and a scientist?  This program will focus on the book Who Was Leonardo da Vinci? (One of the books from the popular Who Was biography series).  In the program we will talk about some of the highlights of the book and do a couple of activities related to the book and Leonardo's life.  This program is for children between the ages of 8-9, and it would be helpful if the child has read the book before the program.  Registration is required and will begin on June 25th at 9:00 am.

This month's Night Readers selection will be...Wonderstruck by Brain Selznick.   "Ben and Rose secretly wish for better lives. Ben longs for his unknown father. Rose scrapbooks a famous silent actress. When Ben finds clues and Rose reads enticing news, the children independently run to New York for what they are missing. Jane Goodall is a true hero in the science world.  Her dream was to live among the wild chimps ever since she was a little girl!  In this program we will focus on the book Who Is Jane Goodall? (One of the books from the popular Who Is biography series).  During the program we will talk about some of the highlights of the book and do a couple of activities related to the book and Jane's life.  This program is for children between the ages of 8-9, and it would be helpful if the child has read the book before the program.  Registration is required and begins on July 7th at 9:00 am.

Professional genealogist Michael Brophy will talk about the central event in the history of Irish genealogy, the destruction of the Public Records Office in Dublin on June 30, 1922 near the end of the Irish Civil War.   Learn how to access existing vital records and census records, as well as other research materials, online and through film rental without the time and expense necessary to travel to Ireland.

Michael Brophy is a nationally known, professional genealogical researcher, heir search specialist, and lecturer from the Boston area. He has served as Program Director and Publicity Director for the Massachusetts Genealogical Council.  He was the first Treasurer of the New England of Association of Professional Genealogists. Mike earned an MBA degree from Suffolk University and a BBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mike was featured on the Irish TV series Dead Money, a genealogy TV show about heir searchers. In 2010, Mr. Brophy was hired to conduct research for the NBC television program Who Do You Think You Are?, on an episode dedicated to the family history of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

He has lectured on a wide variety of genealogy subjects at the National Genealogy Society’s Annual Conference in 2014, 2012 and 2011. He specializes in New England and Irish genealogy subjects. His genealogy education includes seven certificates from the Institute of Genealogy and Historic Research (IGHR) and certificates in Private Investigation and Advanced Forensic Genealogy from Boston University.

Information about our Irish ancestors is exploding on the internet.  Professional genealogist Michael Brophy will present the best websites for Irish genealogical research.  Learn about recent landmark additions of vital records and census information, as well as finding aids for further Irish research.

Michael Brophy is a nationally known, professional genealogical researcher, heir search specialist, and lecturer from the Boston area. He has served as Program Director and Publicity Director for the Massachusetts Genealogical Council.  He was the first Treasurer of the New England of Association of Professional Genealogists. Mike earned an MBA degree from Suffolk University and a BBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mike was featured on the Irish TV series Dead Money, a genealogy TV show about heir searchers. In 2010, Mr. Brophy was hired to conduct research for the NBC television program Who Do You Think You Are?, on an episode dedicated to the family history of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

He has lectured on a wide variety of genealogy subjects at the National Genealogy Society’s Annual Conference in 2014, 2012 and 2011. He specializes in New England and Irish genealogy subjects. His genealogy education includes seven certificates from the Institute of Genealogy and Historic Research (IGHR) and certificates in Private Investigation and Advanced Forensic Genealogy from Boston University.
