Research has shown that young adults who did chores as preschoolers fare better in life. Find out how taking out the trash, doing dishes and scooping dog poop will:

• Enhance the parent-child connection (one of the best ways to keep your child safe);

• Nurture your child's self-esteem;

• Teach your child how to do things they might not feel like (self-discipline);

• Counteract entitlement;

• Set them up for success in life (not calling home for money).

Susan Tordella is the author of Raising Able: How Chores Nurture Grit and Self-Discipline in Children. A mother of four, Susan has led parenting workshops for a decade, where she often taught what she most needed to learn. She will share stories about how to use encouragement and family meetings to get your children to contribute around the house.

The Fault in Our Stars

Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. Starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, and Nat Wolff. Directed by Josh Boone; Fox 2000 Pictures; Rated PG-13;126 minutes; 2014
