    Meeting on the third Monday of each month, this new lecture/discussion series will focus on the geographic aspects of historical events prior to, during and immediately following the Civil War.  Each session will last 2 .5 hours.

Presenter Rodger Duffy has a Master’s Degree in Political Geography from Northwestern University.  Political Geography is a discipline that integrates Geography, History and Politics.  Rodger taught Political Geography at DePaul University in Chicago and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Until recently, he led the American History Book Group at the Mt. Lebanon Library for the past seven years.

Mr. Duffy will use a variety of materials to enrich each session, including Power Point presentations, hand-outs and selected DVDs.  Suggested optional reading for series participants is Battle Cry of Freedom by James McPherson.  There will be some copies on reserve for patrons use.
