How do magic tricks really work? This program investigates the science behind the “magic” of several classic magic tricks. You might learn how to snatch a tablecloth without disturbing the items on top, make a balloon fireproof, and use electromagnetism to defy gravity. For the grand finale, the Museum of Science educator demonstrates how science can make it safe to lie down on a real bed of nails.  For families with kids in kindergarten and up.

Reading appointments are for fifteen minutes.  You will be assigned your appointment time once you have registered and will be contacted with this information via email.  Please note that this program is designed for just the registered child to be in the room with the dog and the dog's owner, to make it more comfortable for the child to read to the dog; accompanying adults and/or siblings can come in only with the child's permission.  Online registration for children in grades K-5 only begins on Saturday, July 1st.  Space is limited.

The town of Hamelin has a rat problem, and there's only one person who can help! CactusHead Puppets brings the story of The Pied Piper to life in this comedic, updated adaptation of the traditional folktale. Not only does the town find a musical solution to pest control, but the kids of Hamelin also teach the grownups a lesson about generosity. In the end, the townspeople all come together in celebration. Join puppeteers John and Megan Regan as they present this classic tale, told with multiple puppetry styles, and plenty of dancing rats! For kids ages 5-10 and their families.
