     March Artist James Bodnar
    Contact: Stephanie Zimble   412.828.9532   zimbles@einetwork.net

The Artist for the month of March is James Bodnar.  His display is Titled “Houses”.

From Mr. Bodnar: "These paintings represent homes from New England, Allegheny and Westmorland Counties. After being in floor covering for over forty years and being in many homes, I had an opportunity to study the unique architecture and personal nature of the places where we live.

“I briefly studied commercial art at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, but am mostly self-taught. I favor oil painting for its greater range of color and technique and also work in pastel, colored pencil, and ink. Some influences are the great landscape and seascape painters of the 18th and 19th centuries, but I do many subjects: portraits, still lifes, city scenes.

“I tend toward realism but find ideas in all styles and schools of art. I work from field drawings, photographs, and memory and try to interpret and not copy.”
