Presented by South Nassau Communities Hospital, this six session program will provide you with everything you need to know about diabetes, and how you can help manage it for yourself, or your loved one. The Diabetes Self-Management Program is a free six-week workshop for people with type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes.  Topics include exercise, monitoring blood sugar, healthy eating, preventing low blood sugar, skin and foot care, medications and stress/relaxation. Participants are provided with a reference book and audio CD. This program is funded by the Nassau County Office for the Aging. A Healthy Oceanside program. Registration required. Free

Drugs continue to plague our society. Nassau County is presenting this Overdose Prevention and Drug Abuse Awareness event here at the Library. Participants will learn to recognize the signs of an Opioid overdose and how to administer a medication that can reverse the fatal effects of an overdose on heroin or prescription painkillers.
