New trends in prostate cancer detection: can we avoid unnecessary biopsies and make them more accurate? A Healthy Oceanside program presented by South Nassau Communities Hospital.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, but prostate cancer screening has become very controversial.  The main concerns are the number of potentially unnecessary biopsies and the fact that these biopsies may not accurately find the cancer within the prostate.  During the last several years, new tools have become available, including blood tests and special MRIs, that could help urologists figure out who really needs a biopsy, and at the same time makes those biopsies more accurate.  This talk will review the latest advances that help men make an informed decision about this important disease.
