11:00 AM  -  4:30 PM Craft Swap! Drop Off Day
    Contact: Miki Wolfe   781-784-1578   mwolfe@ocln.org

Are you a crafter? Do you love to make things or repurpose things in your spare time? The Sharon Public Library will be hosting a Craft Swap, where interested parties can drop off materials on Friday, and on Saturday people can browse for new supplies, all free!

If you drop off crafting materials on Friday, you will be given a ticket for early access browsing on Saturday. All others interested in picking up free crafting materials will be welcome after the initial early-access period is over.

This event is entirely free. If you have a pile of craft supplies you no longer use, or too many supplies (but is there really such a thing?), today is the day to drop off the supplies. In return, you will be given a ticket that will allow you early access browsing on Saturday, so you can collect new supplies. If you don't want to swap for more supplies, that's fine! We appreciate donations too.

Rules and Requests:

1) All crafting supplies must be in good condition (paper organized, markers in containers, yarn balled neatly, etc.)

2) When possible, smaller items should be bagged in clear plastic bags to allow for easy browsing.

3) Items should be accompanied by a description if the original packaging is absent.

4) We are limiting donations to two boxes each. Any other donations must be discussed with library staff prior to donation.

5) No fabric donations at this time, please (there will be a fabric swap announced later, be on the lookout for details!)

All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the swap period.

Join us as we take apart or "reverse engineer" everything we can get our hands on from blenders to electric guitars and more. Disassembling an object helps us better understand how it works, as well as teaching practical, hands-on skills. We will not be breaking anything at Take Apart Tuesday - although we will be working on non-working, discarded, or unwanted items, it is always our goal to be able to reassemble whatever we dismantle. The items to take apart, as well as tools and safety equipment, will be provided, but attendees are more than welcome to bring an item from home. We are also accepting donations of broken or unwanted materials to the program (for safety reasons we cannot accept anything with glass, liquids, or that has been used to prepare foods).

The Sharon Public Library Veteran's Club is hosting Historian, Daniel Leclerk in a presentation on Korea: The Forgotten War on October 12.  Presentation begins at 6:00 pm in the Library Community Room.  All are Welcome!!   Refreshments.

The Korean War was a tragic war in which American soldiers were rapidly deployed, with little training, inadequate weapons and a minimal understanding of Korean culture and fighting methods.  They faced very difficult mountainous terrain, in either frigid or very hot weather against large numbers of well trained North Korean and Chinese soldiers. American soldiers fought hard with great courage and tenacity and experienced a very high casualty rate. This talk will look at major policy and strategic decisions, examine the tactics used by both sides, the tenuous relationship between President Truman and General MacArthur and evaluate the victories and defeats on both sides.

Do you like to color? According to the Boston Globe, adult coloring books are flying off of the shelves. In a June 30, 2015 article, Dugan Arnett said, “In a sudden, unexpected, and generally curious development, grown-up versions of the doodle-books used by countless kindergartners have not only become a thing — but the thing, as far as millions of rapt Americans are concerned.”

See what all the excitement is for yourself at our Adult Coloring Event! We'll have a selection of coloring pages for you to choose from, along with markers, colored pencils and gel pens. Join us for a relaxing evening and color your cares away...

See what all the excitement is for yourself at our Adult Coloring Event! We'll have a selection of coloring pages for you to choose from, along with markers, colored pencils and gel pens. Join us for a relaxing evening and color your cares away...
