9:00 AM  -  9:00 PM Halina Gorecki Artist of the Month

Copper on Copper Artwork by Halina Gorecki

July Artist of the Month

Fuse the ideas of art, travel and patriotism and some astounding results can be seen. During the month of July, the Southington Public Library will exhibit works by artist Halina Gorecki.  The large pieces of artwork are made of pressed pennies on a copper background. One piece is of the United States a second piece is the United States flag.  While travelling around the country for the last 15 years Gorecki saw a proliferation of penny press machines which elongate normal U.S. pennies into souvenirs.  She developed the idea to create the 'United Cents of America' to be representative of the tourist destinations where she made her penny souvenir.

Visit the Gallery at the Library while the exhibit is on display during the normal business hours of the library, Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The Gallery is located on the main level near the Café.
