Teens are invited to help us celebrate Zombie Awareness Month (were you aware?) by planning special Zombie events for the Summer Reading Program in July. The teen summer reading theme is Beneath the Surface and as that surely includes Zombies they will be our focus for the month. There's already a Zombie Bash scheduled for July and teens are invited to help plan the details and create other, Zombie-themed events.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration begins May 14 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Register early, slots fill up quickly.

The Great Scott Magic Show features live animals, lots of audience participation and guaranteed fun for the whole family.

Children should be at least 3 years old. Space is limited. Registration is required and begins July 15. Please indicate the number of family members attending on your registration form.

Summer reading club participants ages 3 years through entering 6th grade are invited to our Big Dig Diorama to collect clues and dig for a prize. The Big Dig will be set up several dates and times (as listed below) but each participant should come only once as the clues and prizes will not change. No registration required.

Thursday July 18 - 10:00-10:30 a.m. and 2:00-2:30 p.m.

Summer Reading Club finishers are invited to an interactive presentation about animals who dig into the earth hosted by the Wallkill National Wildlife Refuge. The program is targeted to Dig Into Reading participants entering Kindergarten through 6th Grade and will be held at both 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to accommodate more readers.

Teens! Come hang out with your friends in our upstairs meeting room. Every Wednesday in July we'll have games, laptops, crafts and free snacks. Limited to the first 20 teens each week.
