Main Library hosts a LEGO® Club for children in grades K through 8 on the third Saturday of each month. Every meeting includes a theme, a book talk and an hour of LEGO creating.

Space is limited to 30. Registration begins April 22. Please complete a separate form for each child attending.

    Thousands of used books, movies, music CDs and audiobooks will be on sale. There will also be a room devoted to special books. The event will wrap up with a $2.00 per bag sale on Saturday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Due to limited storage space we will not be accepting donations for the sale until Saturday, May 11th. Donations of items in good condition should be packed in small boxes or double strength grocery bags. Sorry, but we cannot accept  textbooks, condensed books, encyclopedias or magazines.

Teens are invited to help us celebrate Zombie Awareness Month (were you aware?) by planning special Zombie events for the Summer Reading Program in July. The teen summer reading theme is Beneath the Surface and as that surely includes Zombies they will be our focus for the month. There's already a Zombie Bash scheduled for July and teens are invited to help plan the details and create other, Zombie-themed events.

For teens in grades 7 and up. Free snacks. No registration required.

   4:00 PM  -  5:00 PM Louise Childs - Read-to-a-Dog  
   

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration begins May 14 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

The LC Readers will meet the first Wednesday of every month from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Group picks will focus on thought-provoking, enjoyable, contemporary literature with occasional discussion of notable nonfiction as well.

For our June meeting we'll read and discuss Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier. The book is available in print and CD audiobook. You can request either format from our website and have it delivered to the branch most convenient to you.

Today's Pen and Ink class will teach teens and adults how to start with a pencil outline and use different techniques to create effects in ink.

Class is limited to 20. Registration is required and begins May 20. The class is free and all materials are supplied.

Identity fraud is the fastest growing white collar crime in America. Millions of Americans become victims every year losing thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours getting their identities back. Identity thieves target people of all ages and incomes. Kehleigh Pepe, a representative from Liberty Mutual, will explain what identity fraud is, how it happens and how to avoid it. Knowledge is your best defense.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration begins June 11 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Caldecott Medal, the Sussex County Library System is sponsoring art classes by local artist, Doris Schwint, throughout 2013. Today's Pen and Ink class will teach children ages 8-13 how to start with a pencil outline and use different techniques to create effects in ink.

    Join us at Sussex-Wantage for the second summer of Holly Romahn's LEGO Games Club. Ms. Romahn uses all her teaching skills honed at Hardyston Elementary to offer challenging LEGO games that test players imagination and building skills.

Open to children entering grades 2 and up. Each weekly session is limited to 20 participants and requires a separate registration. Registration begins June 13.
