The Superhero books we'll be chatting about this month  is "The Lunch Lady" series by Jarrett Kroscoczka. They're comic books, also called "graphic novels". Can you believe it is the Lunch Lady that saves the day!?!  To prepare,  read any of the series ahead of time.  This author/artist Jarrett Kroscoczka created all the art work for this year's Summer Reading Program.

We have 4 sheets of fun and facts to try together, and take home. We may try to create our own superhero character or write our own comic strip. We will also play a Superhero game.

This is a FUN Book Club for kids in grade 4 and 5!  We chat about the book and always do an activity related to the book. We have snacks and fun, and usually play a game!  You can get a copy of the book from staff or reserve a copy from Old Colony Library Network. If you don't have time to finish it, come to Book Club anyway.  All kids in grades 4 and 5 are welcome. The kids choose the books to read next.  We meet one Thursday evening a month, and talk about a different book each month. Held in Children's Room.

Great for any kids entering or finishing gr. 4 or 5.

Mr. Krerowicz will present From the Shadow of JFK: The Rise of Beatlemania in America

"February 1964 was the most important month of the Beatles' entire career. It firmly established  Beatlemania in the United States, highlighted by three performances on The Ed Sullivan Show. This60-minute multimedia program will put the Beatles' first U.S. visit in historical context, with particular emphasis on the assassination of John F. Kennedy and how the president's death helped Beatlemania flourish,  in order to explain why that month proved to be the single most pivotal month of the band's existence."

Mr. Krerowicz won a research grant through the University of Hartford in November 2011 to study the band and since has presented his findings through  more than one hundred presentations at libraries, universities, continuing education programs, and community centers throughout the United States. His first Beatles book, The Beatles &The Avant-Garde, was published in late 2014. His second, The Beatles: Band of the Sixties, was released as a Kindle ebook in April 2015; and third,
