Mary will present excerpts from her father’s diaries that began June 6th, 1944, when he first learns of the invasion of Europe. As a chief warrant officer, she will follow Lovell as he bears witness to some of the most monumental events of the 20th century.

John Sibi-Okumu is a well known Kenyan actor, journalist and speaker. He has taken on 40 lead roles on stage and appeared in local and international films such as Constant Gardner and Shake Hands with the Devil. He has also interviewed such news makers as Robert Mugabe, Paul Kagame, Kofi Annan and Jane Goodall. Join us as he reads poetry in a voice so rich it could only come from an actor with his stature. He will include personal and much loved English and American poetry as well as a few of his own poems.

Once thought extinct, Alessandro Bocconcelli, Research Specialist at WHOI, has been carrying out research on the blue whales in Patagonia, Chile for several years. In addition to blue whale studies, photographic and acooustic recordings of all marine species encountered were obtained. The film Patagonia Azul will be shown with Daniel Casado.
