The Unlikely Strummers is a ukulele group based at An Unlikely Story bookstore, in Plainville, featuring strummers from various towns around southeastern MA. They play family-friendly popular music, and you'll be invited to sing along to songs ranging from classics like "When You're Smiling," "Rockin' Robin," and "King of the Road," to more recent tunes made popular by the Beatles, Herman's Hermits, the Temptations, Blondie, the Bangles, and Bruno Mars. 

All ages are welcome at this family-friendly show!

This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 pm in the library's Historical Room.  Librarians will select the book with input from members and make copies available to check out. 

This month's selection is Mrs. Sherlock Holmes by Brad Ricca.   This books tells the true story of Mrs. Grace Humiston, the detective and lawyer who turned her back on New York society life to become one of the nation's greatest crime fighters during

an era when women weren't even allowed to vote.  In the narrative tradition of In Cold Blood and The Devil in the White City, her poignant story unmasks unmistakable connections between missing girls, the role of the media, and the real truth of crime

stories.

This is a workshop on building and flying Air Powered Rockets and Airplanes hosted by Ed the Wizard! Upon the completion of our planes and rockets,  we will learn basic 

aerodynamics enabling our aircraft to fly further, straighter, and perform stunts.

"Tales from the Home of the World's Worst Weather: A Talk About Mt. Washington"

Bitter cold, dense fog, heavy snow, and record winds: Mount Washington is known worldwide for its unpredictable and dangerous weather. For a mountain its size, why is Mt. Washington called the "home of the world's worst weather"? Join Mount Washington Observatory's Will Broussard for an investigation into the unique life and work of weather observers stationed at the observatory year-round. We will explore how the mountain's weather works and what it can tell us about New England's own weather patterns. This program will include weather instrument demos, stunning photography, and video footage from the summit.

"ROOTS" is the Ventress Library's Genealogy Club. We meet on the last Wednesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m. in the library's Historical Room
