The son of Hungarian Jewish survivors of the Holocaust, born in Israel and raised in the Bronx before coming to the Capital Region, Arnon Adler has sought to promote learning and an understanding of the significance of the Holocaust and of its legacy in the recounting of Bernard Adler's experience. While the account, which is told in the first person from Bernard's perspective, includes detailed instances of inhumanity, terrible cruelty and graphic violence, the memoir is ultimately one of love of family, human redemption and the power of hope and faith. Adults and students grade 8+. Please register.

What is consent? What is sexual assault? How can you protect yourself? Where do you go for help? A panel of experts will facilitate an interactive presentation for older teens that will emphasize practical, hands-on skills and information to promote safety and independence. Using the national “It’s On Us: Stop Sexual Assault” campaign and other resources, the discussion will focus on sexual assault and the topics of recognizing sexual assault, identifying situations in which sexual assault may occur, bystander awareness, strategies to know when and how to intervene, creating an environment where sexual assault is unacceptable, how to help survivors of sexual assault, and prevention strategies. For ages 16 and older, parents welcome to view as well. Teen attendees will earn Community Service credit and be entered into the drawing for a $75.00 Visa gift card.
Please register by May 22 to receive the Zoom link for this virtual presentation.
The panel will include Diane Blinn, Licensed Clinical Social Worker; Chris Gilhooly, Licensed Clinical Social Worker; Dr. Marcus Hotaling, PhD, Director of Counseling at Union College
