Without bees to do the job of pollinating, other forms of life could also become extinct. We will be serving a honey-sweet dessert and creating a bee project.

Saturday, July 29 at 4:00pm. On September 21, 1938 at approximately 3:30pm, one of the most destructive and powerful hurricanes, in recorded history, made landfall at Bellport, Long Island. Hitting at high tide with sustained winds of 120 mph and gusts as high as 185mph, it traveled at speeds of up to 47 mph across the island and through New England. On Long Island, it formed ten new inlets, including the Shinnecock inlet. The 12-foot storm surge submerged Westhampton’s Main Street in 6 to 8 feet of water. Join Westhampton Historical Society trustee Jon Stanat as he discusses what happened and why.
