Whitman Author will discuss her book Pedaling out of the Dark and her writing process.  The captivating true story of one woman's struggle with bipolar disorder, Pedaling out of the Dark is an in-depth look at what it's like to live with the illness from childhood, through adolescence, and into adulthood. From the pain of depression and the joys of mania, to the shock of the diagnosis and the life-changing 3,400-mile bicycle ride across the United States that followed, Karen Hurley shares her intriguing autobiography. Take a glimpse inside her mind as she describes her surprising reaction to the help she finally got and how she adapted to a new way of life. A compelling story that candidly reveals the thoughts and emotions of someone who suffers from bipolar disorder or depression, Pedaling out of the Dark also includes a detailed account of the cycling adventure that gave her hope and changed her life.
