"Defend Your Right to the Truth" or "The War Over Facts - Win it with Vote Smart" (choose a title)
Richard Kimball, Vote Smart President, will be demonstrating Vote Smart's new tools defending each citizen's right to the truth. The presentations will be in four parts about 10 to 15 minutes each.
- The Founding Fathers feared that if they cast power out to the people, they would not know enough to self-govern successfully and "factions" would take control.
- How fun, famous and dangerous political commercials manipulate people emotionally instead of informing them intellectually.
- "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes." - Mark Twain. The growth of lies and the people's expectation and acceptance of them.
- Practical means and demonstrations of defending your right to the facts, the truth and the reality that our democracy is so dependent on.
