The Best of the BestSaturday September 29, 2018
10:00 AM until 5:00 PM
Francesca Anderson Fine Art, Portraits North at 56 Adams Street, Lexington is celebrating the gallery’s 35th Anniversary this Sept.
FA started her gallery Sept 15, 1983 at 132 Newbury Street in Boston. They specialized in Contemporary Realism then as well as now. They continue to show the work of artists from New England who paint, sculpt, print, draw in a realistic style incorporating all representational styles with impressionism and expressionism. They represent 25 portrait painters as well.
The gallery moved to 8 Newbury Street in 1987 and to Lexington in 1990.
At first the gallery was not going to be in a “residential structure”, because they thought they would move to a commercial setting either in Lexington Center or Arlington. But after contacting everyone who came to their first 4-5 shows at 56 Adams St, everyone said, “Why move ? There is free and easy parking at 56 Adams St. “ !
At first count, the gallery has had approximately 300 – 325 shows in their 35 years. The shows are theme shows because the gallery in Lexington is large. They can easily accommodate medium to large works by 15 – 20 artists.
Their current Show is called The Best of The Best and is up through October 27, 2018. They are showing the work of 18 of their best artists:
Loring Coleman 1918 - 2015, Michael Compton, Cambridge, MA; Cindy Crimmin, Acton, MA; Grace DeVito, Stamford, CT; Marina Dieul, Quebec, Canada; Merrill French, Harwinton, CT; Kate Gridley, Middlebury, VT; Cindy House, Warner, NH; Ralph Stone Jacobs, Whitefield, NH; Dave Kaphammer, Westborough, MA; Ed Little, Bridgewater, CT; Fred MacNeill, Concord, MA; M?ris Platais, Carlisle, MA; Karen Danstedt Roop, Concord, MA; Joyce Rowsell, Somerset, England; Will Sillin, Sunderland, MA; Monica Vachula, Hatfield, MA and Richard Whitney, Stoddard, NH.
There will be approximately 85-90 paintings on the gallery’s 2 floors.
Gallery Hours are Wed-Sat 10am – 5pm and Sundays 12pm – 5pm. The gallery is free and open to the public.
