Valley Symphony Orchestra: James Bond Meets Brahms

Friday October 25, 2019
8:00 PM

A Bold and Important Masterwork
Composer and pianist Clara Schumann was Johannes Brahms' lifelong confidant and (some say) love interest. When she played the piano version of his third symphony for the first time, she was mesmerized and wrote to him that, "all the movements seem to be of one piece, one beat of the heart."

Maestro Dabrowski describes Brahms' third symphony as a "musicians' symphony" because it is so rewarding and exciting for them to play. Hear the VSO musicians perform this bold and important masterwork on October 25!

The Signature Bond Sound
“The Best of Bond,” featuring the music of John Barry, includes academy-award winning themes from the films "Live and Let Die," "007," "Thunderball," and more. Barry is said to have created the true “Bond sound,” a combination of bold jazz, blaring brass, and lush strings that perfectly accompanies the perilous adventures of the world’s most iconic spy.
