Black lives do matter. Discover Renee Watson’s timely and important novel Piecing Me Together. This book features Jade, a smart, Spanish-loving, African-American teen from a poor Portland neighborhood. Jade is grateful for all the opportunities offered to her by well-meaning people but desperate to prove that she, herself, has something to give. Jade is also a collage artist who uses everyday materials (such as candy wrappers and Dairy Queen takeout bags) to craft meaningful pieces of art. After reading the book, you will create a collage of your own. We will meet via Zoom to discuss the book and explore the materials and meanings of our collages. Grades 7 and Up. Please register to receive Zoom link for meeting.
*copies of the book are available for pick up at the Library or can be downloaded from the Libby app.
