Author Talk - Mary Frailey Calland
Wednesday September 13, 2017
6:30 PM until 7:45 PM
Mary Frailey Calland will talk about her book Consecrated Dust: A Novel of the Civil War North. This work of historical fiction illustrated what life was like in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1862 and brings to light the real life catastrophe that took place on September 17th at the Allegheny Arsenal where 78 girls perished in an explosion while they were hard at work rolling bullet cartridges for the Union Army. News of this tragedy was buried by the horrendous casualty reports from the Battle of Antietam that same day.
No fee. Mary will have books for sale at the end of the program.
