Get ready for a nice long walk down Fire Island National Seashore, a designated Wilderness Area, to the new Bellport inlet. Led by wildlife biologist Ranger Eric Powers, you’ll learn about our barrier island that protects Long Island, beach ecology, long shore drift, and what effects the breach is having on the health of the Great South Bay, and the safety of our communities. We have a special opportunity to utilize the Bellport Ferry to take us to the exclusive Ho Hum Beach. Limited to 80 participants. Lunch and water…pack it in, pack it out. Ferry times TBA. Registration is required and limited to Brookhaven Free Library cardholders.
